Meghan Moore discusses the equipment she used for a photoshoot, including a Canon 550D digital camera for its versatility and ability to take high-quality pictures immediately. She used a Tamron SP AF 17-50mm lens for its auto focus and ability to produce flattering portraits. Interfit Stellar X 300 umbrella flash lights were chosen to add depth and reduce post-production editing. Photoshop was utilized to add dramatic effects and remove backgrounds, while InDesign allowed her to layout and design her magazine professionally with tools for text wrapping and image cropping.
2. Canon 550D
I had the shutter speed 1/80 to keep it in time with the flashlights and the aperture
22 as, because I was using flashlights, I didn’t want to overexpose my pictures. Since
it is a high quality camera meant that it was a better quality than my phone and
made everything appear more professional. Since it was a digital camera it allowed
me to see the pictures immediately and take as many as I want.
Why use Canon 550D?
I chose this camera because it is much more versatile in regards to the amount of
lenses that can go with a Canon.
3. Tamron SP AF 17-50mm
I used this specific lense because it has auto focus. It is the most flattering lense for
portraiture which meant that my models would look better in the pictures. It
allowed my pictures to come out looking better than if I hadn’t used the specific
lense and therefore appear more professional.
Why use a Tamron SP AF 17-50mm lense?
I chose to use this lense as it does what I wanted it to do and fits with the Canon
camera, making it perfect for what I wanted it to do.
4. Interfit Stellar X 300 Umbrella Flash Lights
I used these specific lights since they made my pictures
appear less flat. It also meant that I would have to do less
editing in post-production- I could practically use my
pictures straight away. These also added to the general
professionalism of the photoshoot.
Why use Interfit Stellar X 300 Umbrella Flash Lights?
I used these particular lights because they are the go to
brand in regards to what I wanted to do with my pictures.
5. I used Photoshop to add an effect to my cover image to make it more dramatic and
eye catching- to do this, I had to download an action called cold nightmare and also
remove my photo’s background.
Why use Photoshop?
I chose to use Photoshop rather than another programme because it has the best
tools to make interesting looking pictures. It kept all my pictures at an extremely
high quality and made removing things such as my background quick and easy to do.

6. Adobe InDesign
I used InDesign to physically create the layout and insert the content for my
magazine. I used to make sure everything looked uniform in regards to placement
of text and photos. I also used it to crop images.
Why use InDesign?
I used InDesign as it is specifically made to create professional looking products such
as magazines. By having guidelines and having tools such as text wrapping, it
allowed me to create a product that looked realistic and had everything in place.
