Some started with UN and some started with UNE.

21. LES NOMS
• A noun (nom) names an object, a person or a place.
• In French it is always accompanied by an ARTICLE such as : UN,
UNE,DES,LE,LA ou LES.
• Nouns are either FEMININE or MASCULINE, it is called the
gender of a noun
Example: un cahier, le cahier
une chaise, la chaise

How do we know the gender of a noun?
We need to use a dictionary, the dictionary will tell us if:
- we have a noun : n
- we have a noun which is feminine: n.f. / n.fem.
- we have a noun which is masculine: n.m. / n.masc
- we have a noun which is feminine plural: n.f.pl.
- we have a noun which is masculine plural: n.m.pl.
