2. What is the male gaze theory?
The male gaze theory was created by Laura Mulvey who said it is
used to please the male viewers and that it is said that women are
either portrayed as a virginal character or a sexy "whore". The male
gaze theory relates to how men view women on the screen. The
male gaze theory is seen in many types of medias such as music
videos films, etc. The male gaze theory is shown when women are
seen in seductive ways. Camera angles have a lot to do with the
male gaze theory as they often show particular parts of the body
through close ups to make the women look attractive to the male
audience. Often the clothes and outfits the women is wearing links
to the male gaze theory as they often wear not many clothes of
skin tight clothes to show of their figure this makes males more
interested in and also makes them want to watch. Props also do
this are used in videos to look sexual and to grasp the attention of
male viewers.
