Abstract---In this paper I present an overview of the early research and experimentation
with single wire technology similar to that conducted by Nikola Tesla [1], S. V.
Avramenko [2] and Alexander V. Frolov [3]. My early research and experimentation led
to the development of the ‘Spatial Energy Coherence’ [4] theory and a number of
interesting and naval circuits, many of which appearing to be viable Alternative Energy
Sources.
I. Introduction
Because all of mankind has a vested interest in reducing its dependence on depleting
fossil fuel resources Alternative Energy Research is not limited to professional scientists,
developers or inventors. This has resulted in the term ‘Fringe Science’ which is often
associated with non-academic or non-industrial research and development personnel and
often implies that ‘Fringe Science’ is not creditable in its work and offerings.
One specific area of ‘Fringe Science’, which has caused much of its non-acceptance, is its
usage of terms such as Over Unity (OU) and Free Energy (FE) that imply the creation of
Energy, which is in direct contradiction to the Laws of Science, as we understand them
today.
In my research and the development of the SEC [4] Theory, I found a need to use a term
which described the energy recovery observed in many SEC [4] circuits, yet not imply
anything that would result in the same non-acceptance as OU and FE.
I therefore invented the term ‘Cohered Energy Coefficient’ or CEC [5], which is a
calculated percentage of efficiency for circuits using the ‘Spatial Energy Coherence’
mode of operation, and is derived from the following equation.

Eq: 1
CEC% = ( Uout / Uin ) * 100 where Uout and Uin are expressed in Joule Seconds.
II. The Experimental Circuits
One of the first and simplest of circuits was constructed from a small radio antenna coil.
This coil is often referred to as a ‘Loop Stick Antenna’ [5] and can be found in many
configurations of coil and coils with a core made from a ferrite material. The antenna coil
used in Fig: 2 was a simple untapped coil of Leitz wire and Fig: 1 shows an original coil
before the primary winding was added.

T1 Described in Fig: 4, 5, 6 and 7.
The coil shown in Fig: 2 and the diagram Fig: 3 is comprised of the original antenna coil
shown in Fig: 1 with a nine (9) turn primary wrapped over the center of the Leitz wire
coil. To insulate and offer support for the primary two layers of plastic electrical tape was
placed over the antenna coil.
It should be pointed out that the diodes D1 and D2 in Fig: 3 form an Avramenko Plug [2],
additionally only one end of the primary coil is driven and only one end of the secondary
is utilized, although as will b shown later in the document, the free end of the secondary
displays a significant high voltage.
The construction steps for the coil can be seen in the following pictures; Fig: 4, Fig: 5,
Fig: 6 and Fig: 7.
The paper coil form did not fit well over the ferrite core so the excess was taken up by
using small wood shims (tooth picks). The shims were placed between the coil and core
on both sides in order to allow for centering of the coil over the core.

Fig: 4
To further stabilize the coil a small amount of a rubber cement was used at each end of
the coil from the coil form to the body of the core.
Fig: 5
The nine (9)-turn primary was wound with either #26 or #24 AWG Magnet Wire that had
a Varnish coating. The different wire sizes mad little different in observable result.
Because of the fine Leitz wire of the antenna coil itself, two layers of standard 600V
electrical tape was added over the Leitz wire for support of the primary and to stop the
turns of the Lietz wire from spreading apart from the pressure of the primary.
Before the primary was added over the top of the antenna coil the antenna coil inductance
was measured and found to be 686uH +/-2%. Once applied the primary measured at
6.18uH +/-2% and the inner coil capacity, primary to secondary measured 23pF +/- 0.5%.

One of the completed test coils is shown in the following picture.

With signal generator excitation of the primary as shown in Fig: 3 many interesting
observations were made of which can be seen in Fig: 8. The free end of the secondary
displayed a high voltage in excess of 130 volts and would easily excite a Neon bulb
through the body capacity of the tester.
The opposite end of the secondary was connected to an Avramenko Plug [2] and the
White LED (parts specified in Fig: 3), which displayed a very intense light output.
Fig: 8
The artifacts as seen in Fig: 8 were sufficient to move the experiment from its crude form
to a more controlled platform as seen in the following picture.

Fig: 9
The circuit layout shown in Fig: 9 is similar to that in Fig: 3 and 8, with the exception
that an additional coil L1 is added and the one ohm monitoring resistor is not shown. The
signal generator is shown (Red Lead) connected to the input capacitor C1. The generator
and scope grounds are connected to the common point at the ground end of the 50-ohm
generator load resistor (Black Leads). The scope input is connected to the same spot as
the input of the generator or the top of the generator load resistor.

The coil L1 is a bobbin wound air core coil using #24 AWG to achieve an inductance of
8.8uH +/-0.5%. A close up picture of this coil is seen in the following image.
Fig: 11
Refer to figures 9 and 10 for the location of the following test points (points A, B and C)
where the oscilloscope images in the following examples were taken.
The input from the signal generator was 10MHz at a peak-to-peak voltage of 4.32 volts,
although five volts would have worked just as well.

Note that in figures 12, 13 and 14 what appears to be a randomly occurring distortion is
seen and shown in a white square boxes in Fig: 12 was found to be caused by Florescent
Lighting in the research lab and is not an artifact of the circuit.

It was quickly determined that the circuit of Fig: 3 could be replaced with a much simpler
configuration and one driven by a single line from the signal generator and shown in Fig:
2, Fig: 8 and Fig: 9.
This circuit is shown in the following diagram.

Measuring LED Light Intensity To Determine Relative Power Output
Because the output section, rectifiers and LED’s are at high impedance, it was difficult to
attach instrumentation to the circuit and allow for reliable measurements as the capacity
of the instruments changed the load factors. In most cases the output will be reduced or
stopped and measurements were meaningless. I therefore implemented a way that would
be non-invasive of the circuit and not alter the ultimate performance.
My test method measured the light output of the LED’s in the circuit under optimal
conditions and compared the results to a calibration curve derived from known input
voltages and currents from a lab power supply.
A light tube with flat black interior was used to shield the sensors from external light.
To arrive at a relative circuit power the following was used formula was used.
Eq: 2
POut = Ptest X LED’s X n
To measure the light from a LED I used a Lutron, Model LX-1180 light meter. For
comparison and as a double check I used a CdS cell and ohmmeter combination that was
calibrated in the same way as described above.
The following image shows the calibration LED that had a 1K ohms series resistor for
current limiting. The light shield is show behind the LED and resistor.
Fig: 16

Rel: 1-2009
In the following picture the total setup used for the measurements is shown.
Fig: 17
Using the test coil shown in Fig: 7 and the circuit shown in Fig: 10, I measured relative
output of the LED light based upon input frequency and plotted the following graph. The
input from the signal generator was held constant at each frequency.
© 2007-2009 Dr. Ronald R. Stiffler
Rel: 1-2009
Fig: 18
What is not shown in this paper is that in the circuit of Fig: 10, the single LED can be
replaced by ten or more similar LED’s in series and the output light energy will go up in
a linear fashion.
The output voltage can and was measured to be as high as 168 volts at the 12MHz input
frequency and this correlates to a maximum series LED string of approximately 168 / 2.7
= 62. Indeed in later papers on SEC [4] Exciters it will be found that hundreds of LED’s
can be driven in a series string configuration.

Alternative energy research and spatial energy

  • 1. © 2007-2009 Dr. Ronald R. Stiffler Rel: 1-2009 ALTERNATIVE ENERGY RESEARCH AND SPATIAL ENERGY COHERENCE WITH SINGLE WIRE EXCITATION Ronald R. Stiffler1 1 Senior Scientist, Stiffler Scientific, Humble, Texas, USA DrStiffler@embarqmail.com Abstract---In this paper I present an overview of the early research and experimentation with single wire technology similar to that conducted by Nikola Tesla [1], S. V. Avramenko [2] and Alexander V. Frolov [3]. My early research and experimentation led to the development of the ‘Spatial Energy Coherence’ [4] theory and a number of interesting and naval circuits, many of which appearing to be viable Alternative Energy Sources. I. Introduction Because all of mankind has a vested interest in reducing its dependence on depleting fossil fuel resources Alternative Energy Research is not limited to professional scientists, developers or inventors. This has resulted in the term ‘Fringe Science’ which is often associated with non-academic or non-industrial research and development personnel and often implies that ‘Fringe Science’ is not creditable in its work and offerings. One specific area of ‘Fringe Science’, which has caused much of its non-acceptance, is its usage of terms such as Over Unity (OU) and Free Energy (FE) that imply the creation of Energy, which is in direct contradiction to the Laws of Science, as we understand them today. In my research and the development of the SEC [4] Theory, I found a need to use a term which described the energy recovery observed in many SEC [4] circuits, yet not imply anything that would result in the same non-acceptance as OU and FE. I therefore invented the term ‘Cohered Energy Coefficient’ or CEC [5], which is a calculated percentage of efficiency for circuits using the ‘Spatial Energy Coherence’ mode of operation, and is derived from the following equation.
  • 2. © 2007-2009 Dr. Ronald R. Stiffler Rel: 1-2009 Eq: 1 CEC% = ( Uout / Uin ) * 100 where Uout and Uin are expressed in Joule Seconds. II. The Experimental Circuits One of the first and simplest of circuits was constructed from a small radio antenna coil. This coil is often referred to as a ‘Loop Stick Antenna’ [5] and can be found in many configurations of coil and coils with a core made from a ferrite material. The antenna coil used in Fig: 2 was a simple untapped coil of Leitz wire and Fig: 1 shows an original coil before the primary winding was added. Fig: 1 Fig: 2
  • 3. © 2007-2009 Dr. Ronald R. Stiffler Rel: 1-2009 The circuit diagram for the test circuit shown in Fig: 2 is shown in the following Fig: 3. Fig: 3 Parts: D1, D2 IN4148 – Vishay Semiconductors D3 BUWLC333W20BA11 White LED 12k MCD BestHongKong.com C1 400pF 5% Metalzed Mica, Generic R1 50 Ohm 5% 1/2W Carbon Laser Trimmed, Genric R2 1 Ohm 1% 1W Carbon Laser Trimmed, Generic V1 Wavetek Model 191 and/or B&K Model 3017A T1 Described in Fig: 4, 5, 6 and 7. The coil shown in Fig: 2 and the diagram Fig: 3 is comprised of the original antenna coil shown in Fig: 1 with a nine (9) turn primary wrapped over the center of the Leitz wire coil. To insulate and offer support for the primary two layers of plastic electrical tape was placed over the antenna coil. It should be pointed out that the diodes D1 and D2 in Fig: 3 form an Avramenko Plug [2], additionally only one end of the primary coil is driven and only one end of the secondary is utilized, although as will b shown later in the document, the free end of the secondary displays a significant high voltage. The construction steps for the coil can be seen in the following pictures; Fig: 4, Fig: 5, Fig: 6 and Fig: 7. The paper coil form did not fit well over the ferrite core so the excess was taken up by using small wood shims (tooth picks). The shims were placed between the coil and core on both sides in order to allow for centering of the coil over the core.
  • 4. © 2007-2009 Dr. Ronald R. Stiffler Rel: 1-2009 Fig: 4 To further stabilize the coil a small amount of a rubber cement was used at each end of the coil from the coil form to the body of the core. Fig: 5 The nine (9)-turn primary was wound with either #26 or #24 AWG Magnet Wire that had a Varnish coating. The different wire sizes mad little different in observable result. Because of the fine Leitz wire of the antenna coil itself, two layers of standard 600V electrical tape was added over the Leitz wire for support of the primary and to stop the turns of the Lietz wire from spreading apart from the pressure of the primary. Before the primary was added over the top of the antenna coil the antenna coil inductance was measured and found to be 686uH +/-2%. Once applied the primary measured at 6.18uH +/-2% and the inner coil capacity, primary to secondary measured 23pF +/- 0.5%.

  • 6. © 2007-2009 Dr. Ronald R. Stiffler Rel: 1-2009 With signal generator excitation of the primary as shown in Fig: 3 many interesting observations were made of which can be seen in Fig: 8. The free end of the secondary displayed a high voltage in excess of 130 volts and would easily excite a Neon bulb through the body capacity of the tester. The opposite end of the secondary was connected to an Avramenko Plug [2] and the White LED (parts specified in Fig: 3), which displayed a very intense light output. Fig: 8 The artifacts as seen in Fig: 8 were sufficient to move the experiment from its crude form to a more controlled platform as seen in the following picture.
  • 7. © 2007-2009 Dr. Ronald R. Stiffler Rel: 1-2009 Fig: 9 The circuit layout shown in Fig: 9 is similar to that in Fig: 3 and 8, with the exception that an additional coil L1 is added and the one ohm monitoring resistor is not shown. The signal generator is shown (Red Lead) connected to the input capacitor C1. The generator and scope grounds are connected to the common point at the ground end of the 50-ohm generator load resistor (Black Leads). The scope input is connected to the same spot as the input of the generator or the top of the generator load resistor. Fig: 10
  • 8. © 2007-2009 Dr. Ronald R. Stiffler Rel: 1-2009 The coil L1 is a bobbin wound air core coil using #24 AWG to achieve an inductance of 8.8uH +/-0.5%. A close up picture of this coil is seen in the following image. Fig: 11 Refer to figures 9 and 10 for the location of the following test points (points A, B and C) where the oscilloscope images in the following examples were taken. The input from the signal generator was 10MHz at a peak-to-peak voltage of 4.32 volts, although five volts would have worked just as well.

Stiffler Rel: 1-2009 Fig: 12 Test point location (A) Note that in figures 12, 13 and 14 what appears to be a randomly occurring distortion is seen and shown in a white square boxes in Fig: 12 was found to be caused by Florescent Lighting in the research lab and is not an artifact of the circuit.

  • 11. © 2007-2009 Dr. Ronald R. Stiffler Rel: 1-2009 Fig: 14 Test point location (C) It was quickly determined that the circuit of Fig: 3 could be replaced with a much simpler configuration and one driven by a single line from the signal generator and shown in Fig: 2, Fig: 8 and Fig: 9. This circuit is shown in the following diagram. Fig: 15 *See Fig: 3 for component identification.
  • 12. © 2007-2009 Dr. Ronald R. Stiffler Rel: 1-2009 Measuring LED Light Intensity To Determine Relative Power Output Because the output section, rectifiers and LED’s are at high impedance, it was difficult to attach instrumentation to the circuit and allow for reliable measurements as the capacity of the instruments changed the load factors. In most cases the output will be reduced or stopped and measurements were meaningless. I therefore implemented a way that would be non-invasive of the circuit and not alter the ultimate performance. My test method measured the light output of the LED’s in the circuit under optimal conditions and compared the results to a calibration curve derived from known input voltages and currents from a lab power supply. A light tube with flat black interior was used to shield the sensors from external light. To arrive at a relative circuit power the following was used formula was used. Eq: 2 POut = Ptest X LED’s X n To measure the light from a LED I used a Lutron, Model LX-1180 light meter. For comparison and as a double check I used a CdS cell and ohmmeter combination that was calibrated in the same way as described above. The following image shows the calibration LED that had a 1K ohms series resistor for current limiting. The light shield is show behind the LED and resistor. Fig: 16
  • 13. © 2007-2009 Dr. Ronald R. Stiffler Rel: 1-2009 In the following picture the total setup used for the measurements is shown. Fig: 17 Using the test coil shown in Fig: 7 and the circuit shown in Fig: 10, I measured relative output of the LED light based upon input frequency and plotted the following graph. The input from the signal generator was held constant at each frequency.
  • 14. © 2007-2009 Dr. Ronald R. Stiffler Rel: 1-2009 Fig: 18 What is not shown in this paper is that in the circuit of Fig: 10, the single LED can be replaced by ten or more similar LED’s in series and the output light energy will go up in a linear fashion. The output voltage can and was measured to be as high as 168 volts at the 12MHz input frequency and this correlates to a maximum series LED string of approximately 168 / 2.7 = 62. Indeed in later papers on SEC [4] Exciters it will be found that hundreds of LED’s can be driven in a series string configuration.
