1. Bush Destruction For Kids

2. It is a warm summers night and I'm walking
home from school(my name is Jack). As I get
home I get the keys from under the door mat.
I opened the door and closed it behind me. I
dump my bag in my room and walk to the
kitchen. My mum is making some dinner and I
go over to the couch. I turn on the tv and
switch it my favourite show 'Adventure Time'.
But of course my mum tells me to turn on the
news. I switch it to the news and listen. Peter
Mitchell says,"Fires spreading to Kings Lake
and heading north."

We stop and stare...

3. Mum says:"I better call dad to tell him the
news". Ring ring,ring ring. My dad picks up
the phone. "Hi sweetie, I'm at work typing up
an e-mail."Oh because I just heard on the
news that there are bush fires spreading to
our home". "I'll be there as soon as I can"
says dad.
He tells his boss he has to go home to help
his family. The boss says sure and dad gets
into the car to go home. 12 minutes later my
dad gets home. He walks in the door and
asks what happened. There's a bush and its
spreading to our house.

4. He tells us to pack our bags because we will
be leaving soon. While Dad and I pack our
bags with all the thing we will need My mum
makes sure we have family possessions.
Dad and I pack...
Torch, whistle,
clothes, food and
water, toiletries, tent
equipment and family
possessions.
It's now 5 o'clock and it's really hot. We have
our dinner and head off. We start by joining
our neighbours on a long drive out of town
and follow them past our school and all of my
friends houses. Eventually we get out into the
bush.

5. We have now been driving for 5 hours and we
have made it to crown hotel. We pay for our
bills and go to room C26
We go straight onto the news and see our
stuffed up town in ashes
