2. Objective:
To develop a Cloud based solution to automate and enhance the quality of education and
administration at Schools-“K-12 and below” in India.
Education sector: In dire need of low cost cloud model
India’s education sector currently offers an estimated US$ 40 billion market, with a
potential 16% five-year CAGR. This spans the kindergarten through grade 12 (K-12) segment
(US$20 billion), private professional colleges (US$7 billion) .The most attractive and scalable
sectors in this group are, K-12 and preschools- KPMG report
The education market is generally regarded as the only market towards which Indians are
not price-sensitive because it has helped them reach their present standards of living
Need for the three pillars in Indian Schooling cloud today:
Based on a
primary
survey
Social Media can add value to education industry as :
With a number of global institutions entering the country, the scope for adoption of an integrated
solution that manages the entire educational institute is huge.
Business Idea:
The education sector is witnessing an unprecedented growth in the number of campuses and their
intake of students. Moreover new learning systems demand interactive content models and new
collaborative tools to attract students.
With Cognizant EduCloud we propose to design an education solution offering the integrated
capabilities to standardize systems and procedures to manage and deliver education. It would be a
set of cloud services and offerings designed to help education systems leverage end to end services
from administrative to educational content and collaborative platforms for exchange of information.
3. The collaborative tools will empower you to effectively engage all stakeholders – students, Parents,
faculties, alumni industry, global top-tier institutes, policymakers, and learning technology partners.
We also suggest use of predictive analytics to get real-time insights on student and institutional
performance and alleviate constrained lab resources for learning.
Most importantly the cloud model + standardized procedures across school enable a low cost model
which is thus expected to have high acceptability.
The solution in brief:
Why Cognizant:
STRENGTHS OPPORTUNTIES
- Consulting experience and existence of CBC - Nascent Education market in India
- Image of a ‘US-based’ organization - Huge opportunity in terms of number of schools as
- Strong implementation experience well as lack of quality products
- Strong development team in India - Competitors focus has only been Maharashtra
,Gujarat and New Delhi
- Cognizant 2.0 social media platform expertise
WEAKNESSES THREATS
- No education institute collaborations - Competitor existence
- Education sector hasn’t been the major focus - Maintaining competitive differentiation
4. Further, Cognizant currently has a strong development team based out of India. Hence, its ability to
source talent in India is well-established and can be leveraged to build and maintain standardized
solution.
Secondly the emerging consulting practise of cognizant can be leveraged to understand the market
from different boards, education contents, school procedures etc.

Key Insight: Though, a lot of similar products and competitors already exist, the market is still wide
open due to the lack of quality and efficient products. Also, there is a lot of scope for IT in education
sector as a lot still needs to be done. Most importantly, Cloud based solution with pay per usage
models are missing.
A study needs to be undertaken in order to identify:
The areas where the user is facing problems in working on the software solutions.
Significant customization is needed in the MIS.
Daily processes must be studied and understood in great detail to ensure an effective and
efficient MIS.
School Survey.docx
Key Insight: We recommend that collaboration be made with a prominent school to develop and
customize the MIS and other services with the help of regular update and feedback from the school.
This would also help in understanding the intricate details and nuances of various processes and
activities running at schools.
