In this paper a bank of velocity filters is devised to be used for isolating a moving object with specific velocity (amplitude and direction) in a sequence of frames. The approach used is a 3-D FFT based experimental procedure without applying any theoretical concept from velocity filters. Accordingly, each velocity filter is built using the spectral signature of an object moving with specific velocity. Experimentation reveals the capabilities of the constructed filter bank to separate moving objects as far as the amplitude as well as the direction of the velocity are concerned. Accordingly, weak objects can be detected when moving with different velocity close to strong vehicles. Accelerating objects can be detected only on the part of their trajectory they have the specific velocity. Problems which arise due to the discontinuities at the edges of the frame sequences are discussed.

Using thresholding method to segment an image, a fixed threshold is not suitable if the background is rough here, we propose a new adaptive thresholding method using KFCM. The method requires only one parameter to be selected and the adaptive threshold surface can be found automatically from the original image. An adaptive thresholding scheme using adaptive tracking and morphological filtering. KFCM algorithm computes the fuzzy membership values for each pixel. Our method is good for detecting large and small images concurrently. It is also efficient to denoise and enhance the responses of images with low local contrast can be detected. The efficiency and accuracy of the algorithm is demonstrated by the experiments on the MR brain images.

Abstract Recently the digital imaging applications is increasing significantly and it leads the requirement of effective image compression techniques. Image compression removes the redundant information from an image. By using it we can able to store only the necessary information which helps to reduce the transmission bandwidth, transmission time and storage size of image. This paper proposed a new image compression technique using DCT-Biorthogonal Wavelet Transform with arithmetic coding for improvement the visual quality of an image. It is a simple technique for getting better compression results. In this new algorithm firstly Biorthogonal wavelet transform is applied and then 2D DCT-Biorthogonal wavelet transform is applied on each block of the low frequency sub band. The need to transmit or store satellite images is growing rapidly with the development of modern communications and new imaging systems. The goal of compression is to facilitate the storage and transmission of large images on the ground with high compression ratios and minimum distortion. In this work, we present a new coding scheme for satellite images. At first, the image will be downloaded followed by a fast Fourier transform FFT. The result obtained after FFT processing undergoes a scalar quantization (SQ). The results obtained after the quantization phase are encoded using entropy encoding. This approach has been tested on satellite image and Lena picture. After decompression, the images were reconstructed faithfully and memory space required for storage has been reduced by more than 80%

Segmentation is a process of partitioning the image into several objects. It plays a vital role in many fields such as satellite, remote sensing, object identification, face tracking and most importantly in medical field. In radiology, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is used to investigate the human body processes and functions of organisms. In hospitals, this technique has been using widely for medical diagnosis, to find the disease stage and follow-up without exposure to ionizing radiation.Here in this paper, we proposed a novel MR brain image segmentation method for detecting the tumor and finding the tumor area with improved performance over conventional segmentation techniques such as fuzzy c means (FCM), K-means and even that of manual segmentation in terms of precision time and accuracy. Simulation performance shows that the proposed scheme has performed superior to the existing segmentation methods.

Fuzzy c-means (FCM) algorithm has proved its effectiveness for image segmentation. However, still it lacks in getting robustness to noise and outliers, especially in the absence of prior knowledge of the noise. To overcome this problem, a generalized a novel multiple-kernel fuzzy cmeans (FCM) (NMKFCM) methodology with spatial information is introduced as a framework for image-segmentation problem. The algorithm utilizes the spatial neighborhood membership values in the standard kernels are used in the kernel FCM (KFCM) algorithm and modifies the membership weighting of each cluster. The proposed NMKFCM algorithm provides a new flexibility to utilize different pixel information in image-segmentation problem. The proposed algorithm is applied to brain MRI which degraded by Gaussian noise and Salt-Pepper noise. The proposed algorithm performs more robust to noise than other existing image segmentation algorithms from FCM family.

This paper proposes the new segmentation technique with cluster based method. In this, the multi source medical images like MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging), CT (computed tomography) & PET (positron emission tomography) are fused and then segmented using cluster based thresholding approach. The edge details of an image have become an essential technique in clinical and researchoriented applications. The more edge details of the fused image have obtainable with this method. The objective of the clustering process is to partition a fused image coefficients into a number of clusters having similar features. These features are useful to generate the threshold value for further segmentation of fused image. Finally the segmented output is compared with standard FCM method and modified Otsu method. Experimental results have shown that the proposed cluster based thresholding method is able to effectively extract important edge details of fused image.

Metallic and non-metallic nano-particles have attracted much interest concerning their wide applications. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) is the state of the art method to characterize a nano-particle with respect to size, morphology, structure, or composition. This paper presents an efficient evolutionary computational method, particle swarm optimization (PSO), for automatic segmentation of nano-particles. A threshold-based segmentation technique is applied, where image entropy is attacked as a minimization problem to specify local and global thresholds. We are concerned with reducing wrong characterization of nano-particles due to concentration of liquid solutions or supporting material within the acquired image. The obtained results are compared with manual techniques and with previous researches in this area.

Abstract Object detection is a process of finding the instances of object of a certain class which is useful in analysis of video or image. There are number of algorithms have been developed so far for object detection. Object detection has got significant role in variety of areas of computer vision like video surveillance, image retrieval`. In this paper presented an efficient algorithm for moving object extraction using edge, motion and saliency information from videos. Out methodology includes 4 stages: Frame generation, Pre-processing, Foreground generation and integration of cues. Foreground generation includes edge detection using sobel edge detection algorithm, motion detection using pixel-based absolute difference algorithm and motion saliency detection. Conditional Random Field (CRF) is applied for integration of cues and thus we get better spatial information of segmented object. Domestic refrigerators are widely used household appliances and a large extent of energy is consumed by this system. A phase change material is a substances that can store or release significant amount of heat energy by changing the phase liquid to vapour or vice versa. So, reduction of temperature fluctuation and improvement of system performances is that main reason of using PCM enhances the heat transfer rate thus improves the COP of refrigeration as well as the quality frozen food. The release and storage rate of a refrigerator is depends upon the characteristics of refrigerators and its properties using phase change material for a certain thermal load it is found that COP of conventional refrigerator is increased . The phase change material used in chamber built manually and which surrounds the evaporator chamber of a conventional refrigerator the whole heat transfer for load given to refrigerator cabin (to evaporator) evaporator to phase change material by conduction. This system hence improves the performances of household refrigerator by increasing its compressor cut-off time and thereby minimizing electrical energy usage. The main objective is to improve the performance, cooling time period, storage capacity and to maintain the constant cooling effect for more time during power cut off hours using phase change material.

Tracking a mobile object is one of the important topics in pattern recognition, but style has some obstacles. A reliable tracking system must adjust their tracking windows in real time according to appearance changes of the tracked object. Furthermore, it has to deal with many challenges when one or multiple objects need to be tracked, for instance when the target is partially or fully occluded, background clutter, or even some target region is blurred. In this paper, we will present a novel approach for a single object tracking that combines particle filter algorithm and kernel distribution that update its tracking window according to object scale changes, whose name is multi-scale adaptive particle filter tracker. We will demonstrate that the use of particle filter combined with kernel distribution inside the resampling process will provide more accurate object localization within a research area. Furthermore, its average error for target localization was significantly lower than 21.37 pixels as the mean value. We have conducted several experiments on real video sequences and compared acquired results to other existing state of the art trackers to demonstrate the effectiveness of the multi-scale adaptive particle filter tracker.

The Gabor filter is a very effective tool in visual search approaches and multimedia applications. This filter provides high resolution in time-frequency domains and thus finds use in object recognition, character recognition and pattern recognition applications. Medical Image analysis using image processing algorithms is one of the best ways of diagnosing diseases inside human body. The Gabor wavelets resemble the visual cortex cell operation of mammalian brains and hence are best suited for biological image analysis. A Tonsillitis detection system is proposed here using Gabor filtering approach. This system detects the presence of Tonsillitis from the tonsils images. A suitable VLSI architecture for the implementation of the Gabor filter was modeled in Verilog using Xilinx tool and simulated using the tonsils test images. The proposed system was successful in detecting the presence of Tonsillitis from the diseased tonsils image. The complete system was then synthesized and implemented on FPGA Artix 7. The design was capable of operating at a maximum frequency of 394.563 MHz.

This paper presents an automated segmentation of brain tumors in computed tomography images (CT) using combination of Wavelet Statistical Texture features (WST) obtained from 2-level Discrete Wavelet Transformed (DWT) low and high frequency sub bands and Wavelet Co-occurrence Texture features (WCT) obtained from two level Discrete Wavelet Transformed (DWT) high frequency sub bands. In the proposed method, the wavelet based optimal texture features that distinguish between the brain tissue, benign tumor and malignant tumor tissue is found. Comparative studies of texture analysis is performed for the proposed combined wavelet based texture analysis method and Spatial Gray Level Dependence Method (SGLDM). Our proposed system consists of four phases i) Discrete Wavelet Decomposition (ii) Feature extraction (iii) Feature selection (iv) Classification and evaluation. The combined Wavelet Statistical Texture feature set (WST) and Wavelet Co-occurrence Texture feature (WCT) sets are derived from normal and tumor regions. Feature selection is performed by Genetic Algorithm (GA). These optimal features are used to segment the tumor. An Probabilistic Neural Network (PNN) classifier is employed to evaluate the performance of these features and by comparing the classification results of the PNN classifier with the Feed Forward Neural Network classifier(FFNN).The results of the Probabilistic Neural Network, FFNN classifiers for the texture analysis methods are evaluated using Receiver Operating Characteristic (ROC) analysis. The performance of the algorithm is evaluated on a series of brain tumor images. The results illustrate that the proposed method outperforms the existing methods.

Majority of the existing commercial application for video surveillance system only captures the event frames where the accuracy level of captures is too poor. We reviewed the existing system to find that at present there is no such research technique that offers contextual-based scene identification of outliers. Therefore, we presented a framework that uses unsupervised learning approach to perform precise identification of outliers for a given video frames concerning the contextual information of the scene. The proposed system uses matrix decomposition method using multivariate analysis to maintain an equilibrium better faster response time and higher accuracy of the abnormal event/object detection as an outlier. Using an analytical methodology, the proposed system blocking operation followed by sparsity to perform detection. The study outcome shows that proposed system offers an increasing level of accuracy in contrast to the existing system with faster response time.

Understanding human mobility patterns is a significant research endeavor that has recently received considerable attention. Developing the science to describe and predict how people move from one place to another during their daily lives promises to address a wide range of societal challenges: from predicting the spread of infectious diseases, improving urban planning, to devising effective emergency response strategies. This presentation will discuss a Bayesian framework to analyse an individual’s mobility patterns and identify departures from routine. It is able to detect both spatial and temporal departures from routine based on heterogeneous sensor data (GPS, Cell Tower, social media, ..) and outperforms existing state-of-the-art predictors. Applications include mobile digital assistants (e.g., Google Now), mobile advertising (e.g., LivingSocial), and crowdsourcing physical tasks (e.g., TaskRabbit).

This research paper proposes an improved feature reduction and classification technique to identify mild and severe dementia from brain MRI data. The manual interpretation of changes in brain volume based on visual examination by radiologist or a physician may lead to missing diagnosis when a large number of MRIs are analyzed. To avoid the human error, an automated intelligent classification system is proposed which caters the need for classification of brain MRI after identifying abnormal MRI volume, for the diagnosis of dementia. In this research work, advanced classification techniques using Support Vector Machines based on Particle Swarm Optimisation and Genetic algorithm are compared. Feature reduction by wavelets and PCA are analysed. From this analysis, it is observed that the proposed classification of SVM based PSO is found to be efficient than SVM trained with GA and wavelet based feature reduction technique yields better results than PCA.

This new version of the popular embedded device comes with a new iteration of Broadcom’s VideoCore GPU platform, and was released with a fully open source driver stack, developed by Igalia. The presentation will discuss some of the major changes required to support this new Video Core iteration, the challenges we faced in the process and the solutions we provided in order to deliver conformant OpenGL ES and Vulkan drivers. The talk will also cover the next steps for the open source Raspberry Pi 5 graphics stack.
