Lets follow God's plan on marriage

“Therefore shall a man leave his
father and his mother, and shall
cleave unto his wife: and they
shall be one flesh. And they were
both naked, the man and his
wife, and were not
ashamed”.(KJV)

father and mother and
embraces his wife. They
become one flesh. The two of
them, the Man and his
Wife, were naked, but they felt

4. "The concept of
traditional marriage and
traditional family ties is
antiquated. So we must
form relationships that
are more in step with
our times."

5. Is that really true? I
suggest that we need to go
back to the blueprint and read
again the words of the
architect who designed
marriage in the first place and
find out what He has to say
about it.

and be united to his
wife, and they will become
one flesh. The man and his
wife were both naked, and
they felt no shame.”

7. The following issues must be
handled very well as God intended
as He set up the Marriage
institution in Genesis 2:24-25
1. Severance
2. Permanence
3. Unity
4. Intimacy
Let us look at each of the above:-13 August 20137

8. 1. SEVERANCE
"For this reason a man
will leave his father and
mother..."

9. There must be a leaving of
the old home - the old
family ties - the old
securities - the old
protection - the old financial
dependence upon mother
and father - and the
beginning of a new home.

10. I have seen a lot of
problems in marriage arise
simply because severance
didn't take place. Yet God
says a severance must
take place.

11. 2. PERMANENCE
"…and shall cleave unto
his wife."

12. The word "cleave" is an
interesting word.
It means to "glue one
thing to another to form
a permanent bond."

13. "Until death do us part"
That becomes not only a
pledge to each other – it
becomes a pledge to
Almighty God in heaven.

14. I am afraid that some people
getting married think, "I will
be your husband or wife as
long as we have mutual
interests - or as long as other
things don't interfere - or as
long as we get along with
one another."

15. "There is one thing that
should never be started
prematurely and that is
divorce”.

16. 3. UNITY
"...and they will become
one flesh..."

17. Unity forms and deepens
as they share the events
of life - both good and
bad - with each other. It
doesn't happen instantly.

18. 4. INTIMACY
"The man and his wife
were both naked, and they
felt no shame."

19. Most of us have a basic
need for that kind of
intimacy with another
human being. And when we
seem to be unsuccessful in
finding it within the bonds of
marriage, we search for
cheap substitutes.
