Observe the interviewee as closely as
possible. What are they wearing? What
is around them? How do they carry
themselves? How do they look when
they talk about certain subjects? All of
these become important when it is time
to write a story.

Do your research and know the topic
before the interview.

Central High School’s Publication class
before you begin.

Always be prepared to ask additional
questions based on the response of the
interviewee.

Think of the interview as a normal
conversation. (Sort of like speed dating).
The more relaxed you make the
interviewee feel the better that person’s
answers will be.

End every interview by asking the
interviewee if there is anything he/she
would like to add.

Be sure to thank the interviewee for their
