PLASTICS
HELENA’S PART
Physical Properties:
o Electrical Conductivity:
It is the capacity of a material
to transport the electric circuit.- Low
o Thermal Conductivity:
It is the capacity of a material
to transport heat-o
Density:
The density of any material is mass
divided into volume-Light
o Expansion:
It is when an object increase
Depending on the temperature-high
o Melting point:
Is the point in which one object
Melts,and depending on each, the
object melts at different temperatures
Plastics:200ºC
o Fusibility:
Is the ease in which a material
will melt
• Mechanical Properties
o Types of stress
-Traction: When two opposite
objects collapse.-No traction
-Compression: When one object
contract it self-low
-bending:When one object folds-low
-shearing:It is when the force is ma-de
in two different direction in an object-low
-Torsion: Is the force that a human
makes for twisting an object-low
Shearing
torsion
Bending
compression
traction
o Elasticity:
It is when an object can change the
shape and then turn into the original
form-low
o Plasticity:
Is the property which can change the
Form and does not move.-low
Ductility:
This is a material’s capacity to deform
permanently under the force of traction
Malleability:
Produces slaps and sheetes
Resistance:
Can undergo forces with out breaking
Hardness:
resistance
dented scratched
Weldability:
Two Materials Join together because of heat
Permeability:
ability for water to pass
Through-they are impermeable
Solubility:
Materials can mix with
substances- normally they can’t
Combustibility
Materials can burn with out
Thermal energy
Recyclability:
Transform old material
Into a new one-Yes
Toxicity:
It cause negative effects-Yes
Biodegradability:
Capacity of a material to
Deteriorate- takes long
