Digital engagement can be an effective way for government to interact with citizens in a more meaningful and impactful manner compared to traditional engagement methods. It allows governments to be more accountable, approachable and understandable to citizens through various digital tools and platforms. These include e-petitions to parliament, online consultations, social media, open data platforms, and unconferences among other approaches. The key is for digital engagement to be integrated across all aspects of communication, not viewed as separate, and done in a way that empowers and engages citizens.
