The poem "Annabel Lee" by Edgar Allen Poe is about a young maiden named Annabel Lee who lived with no other thought but to love the narrator. They loved each other deeply in their kingdom by the sea. However, Annabel Lee died when a wind blew out of a cloud one night, chilling and killing her. The narrator believes this was because of the jealousy of the angels in heaven who envied the love between Annabel Lee and the narrator.
