Becoming a perfect presenter Part 1 – Overcoming Stage Fright

Does public speaking make you nervous?
The third way... However it is not as simple as just a yes or no If you said NO Be aware of becoming too confident If you said YES You need to look at ways to stop nerves holding you back Some nervousness is good...
The performing balance There is a careful balancing act that gives you an edge, presenting should be exciting.
Building confidence There are two techniques we will use to build confidence and control nerves Breathing Techniques Mind Changers
Breathing better Your breathing will affect your voice and projection Learning to control your breathing will allow you to improve the projection and clarity of your voice.
Nervous breathing Your breathing can be affected by nerves. You can also control your nerves by controlling your breathing.
Breathing exercise Try the following exercise
The exercise will give you more oxygen and feed your brain The act of concentration will distract you from thinking about your nerves Parents use distraction with children and it still works when we are adults! Take time to consider your breathing
Mind changers Two simple but powerful techniques ,[object Object]
Massive mantras,[object Object]
Smiling works The acts of smiling (and other emotions) are handled by a lower, more primitive part of our brains.  If you physically smile the lower brain tells the upper brain that you are happy.  It is a simple way to improve the way you feel.
Massive mantras
Tell yourself out loud “I am a great presenter... I can do this...” Repeat this a number of times
Self-conscious? If you don’t want to tell yourself out loud how good you are there is an alternative Use music as your mantra Find your favourite motivational, up-beat track and make sure you play this before you present
Musical mantras Using music can make you feel great It can also raise your heart rate and make you feel up-beat
Feeling better? If you use these simple techniques you will find that you can conquer your nerves It will take practice, but persevere and you will become a great presenter

  • 7. Breathing better Your breathing will affect your voice and projection Learning to control your breathing will allow you to improve the projection and clarity of your voice.
  • 8. Nervous breathing Your breathing can be affected by nerves. You can also control your nerves by controlling your breathing.

  • 10. The exercise will give you more oxygen and feed your brain The act of concentration will distract you from thinking about your nerves Parents use distraction with children and it still works when we are adults! Take time to consider your breathing

  • 13. Smiling works The acts of smiling (and other emotions) are handled by a lower, more primitive part of our brains. If you physically smile the lower brain tells the upper brain that you are happy. It is a simple way to improve the way you feel.
  • 15. Tell yourself out loud “I am a great presenter... I can do this...” Repeat this a number of times
  • 16. Self-conscious? If you don’t want to tell yourself out loud how good you are there is an alternative Use music as your mantra Find your favourite motivational, up-beat track and make sure you play this before you present
  • 17. Musical mantras Using music can make you feel great It can also raise your heart rate and make you feel up-beat
  • 18. Feeling better? If you use these simple techniques you will find that you can conquer your nerves It will take practice, but persevere and you will become a great presenter
