Let’s listen to a song by British band The Who. It’s called Behind Blue Eyes. Identify
examples of present simple whenever they come up onscreen.
Great! Now let’s take a look at a plentiful of examples in a kind of medium the
present simple tense plays a very important role: printed media/newspapers.
Remember that newspapers’ headlines introduce a past fact by using the present
simple tense. Isn’t it interesting? All you have to do now is find examples;
understand what they are about; discuss the news that have caught your eyes the
most with your partner; and finally write down 5 headlines about

things that happened in your city today
things that happened in your neighborhood today
things that happened at your job today
things that happened to you today
things that happened to somebody you know

Try to write them in a kind of media fashion: you must catch the readers attention
