9. Eph 6:2, "Honor Your Father And Mother"
• Eph 6:2, "Honor your father and mother"• Jesus quoted this verse a lot;
• Mt 19:20…"All these I have kept," the young man said.
"What do I still lack?" (… Mk 10:20, Lk 18:21)
• Mk 7:10-12…Moses said, 'Honor your father and your
mother,' and, 'Anyone who curses his father or mother
must be put to death.' 11 But you say that if a man
says to his father or mother: 'Whatever help you might
otherwise have received from me is Corban' (that is, a
gift devoted to God), (Mt 15:4, Lk 18:21)
10. Eph 6:2, "Honor Your Father And Mother"

• The New Testament;
• Eph 6:2, Col 3:20; 2 Tim 3:2,3; Rom 1:30, plus
the 6 gospel quotes by Jesus
• It must be important!

go well with you in the land the Lord your
God is giving you.
13. Eph 6:3, Different Dispensation
• Ex 20:12…so that you may live long in the land the
Lord your God is giving you. (Duet 5:16)
• Israel gets the Holy Land how much land does the
church get?
• The church gets “long life on the earth.”
• No land!?
• Mt 5:5 Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the
earth.
• Dan 2:35…But the rock that struck the statue became a
huge mountain and filled the whole earth.

Lord your God that he made with you; do not make for
yourselves an idol in the form of anything the Lord
your God has forbidden.
• Dt 4:40 Keep his decrees and commands, which I am
giving you today, so that it may go well with you and
your children after you and that you may live long in

18. “DEUTERONOMY”
• Always read the Bible in context!
• Deuteronomy is the fifth book of the OT and
was called by the Greeks “Deuteronomion”
• Or “the second law” , so we get our name
Deuteronomy, or “a second statement of the
law” or "repetition of the law“
• Deut 17:18 When he takes the throne of his
kingdom, he is to write for himself on a scroll a
copy of this law…
19. Deuteronomy 5:16, Honour
• The Biblical Illustrator lists 3 ways, “THE DUTIES of children
are….summed up in one word, "honour" -- "Honour thy father and
thy mother.“…
• 1. Reverence. There may occur cases in which the parental
character is as far as possible from all that could inspire either
reverence or love. But still, how much soever this may be the
case, there is a respect due to the person of a parent, for the very
relation's sake; just as there is an official respect due to the person
of a magistrate on account of the station he
occupies, independently of the claims of personal character. This
respect is not the dictate of any servile fear. It is associated with
love, and is proportional to it. It might be defined a reverential
familiarity.
• 2. Obedience.
• 3. Maintenance. This, of course, comes into application only in

training and instruction of the Lord. [shemah]
• Dt 6:4-9 Hear [shemah, listen], O Israel: The Lord our
God, the Lord is one. 5 Love the Lord your God with
all your heart and with all your soul and with all your
strength. 6 These commandments that I give you today
are to be upon your hearts. 7 Impress them on your
children. Talk about them when you sit at home and
when you walk along the road, when you lie down and
when you get up. 8 Tie them as symbols on your hands
and bind them on your foreheads. 9 Write them on the
doorframes of your houses and on your gates.

responsibility
24. Eph 6:5, Employees,
Obey Your Earthly Employers
• Eph 6:5-8 Slaves, obey your earthly masters with
respect and fear, and with sincerity of heart, just
as you would obey Christ. 6 Obey them not only
to win their favor when their eye is on you, but
like slaves of Christ, doing the will of God from
your heart. 7 Serve wholeheartedly, as if you
were serving the Lord, not men, 8 because you
know that the Lord will reward everyone for
whatever good he does, whether he is slave or
free.
25. Eph 6:9, Employers, Treat Your
Employees In The Same Way
• Eph 6:9 And masters, treat your slaves in the
same way. Do not threaten them, since you know
that he who is both their Master and yours is in
heaven, and there is no favoritism with him.
• 2 Ti 2:24 And the Lord's servant must not
quarrel; instead, he must be kind to
everyone, able to teach, not resentful.
• Ro 14:4 Who are you to judge someone else's
servant? To his own master he stands or falls….

grace that is in Christ Jesus
28. Eph 6:11, The Devil's Schemes

devour..
29. Eph 6:12, A Spiritual Battle
• Eph 6:12 For our struggle is not against flesh
and blood, but against the rulers, against the
authorities, against the powers of this dark
world and against the spiritual forces of evil in
the heavenly realms.
• Why do we see broken homes, disgraced
pastors, split churches, ignorant untrained
Christians, un- churched Christians, scattered
teens?
30. Eph. 6:12, Our Struggle
• Eph. 6:12 ". . . our struggle is. . . spiritual …"
• 2 Cor. 4:4 ". . . the god of this world has blinded
the minds of the unbelieving, that they might not
see the light of the gospel . . .“
• Our struggle is against the flesh, the Devil, and
the world.
• 1 John 2:16 For all that is in the world, the lust of
the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride
of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. KJV

allowed to stay by himself, with the soldier
who was guarding him.

33. Isa 59:15-18, The Armor Of God
• Isa 59:15-18 The Lord looked and was displeased
that there was no justice. 16 He saw that there
was no one, he was appalled that there was no
one to intervene; so his own arm worked
salvation for him, and his own righteousness
sustained him. 17 He put on righteousness as his
breastplate, and the helmet of salvation on his
head; he put on the garments of vengeance and
wrapped himself in zeal as in a cloak. 18
According to what they have done, so will he
repay wrath to his enemies and retribution to
his foes
34. Eph 6:13, Put On The Armor Of God
• Eph 6:13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that
[if] when the day of evil comes,
• you may be able to [go out against the Devil] stand your
ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.
• Binding Satan and Territorial praying
• Jude 3-10…slipped in among you…are godless men…reject
authority and slander celestial beings. 9 But even the
archangel Michael, when he was disputing with the devil
about the body of Moses, did not dare to bring a
slanderous accusation against him, but said, "The Lord
rebuke you!" 10 Yet these men speak abusively against
whatever they do not understand; and what things they do
understand by instinct, like unreasoning animals...
36. Eph 6:14, Jesus Is The Christ
• Eph 6:14…the belt of truth buckled around…

37. Eph 6:15, Readiness…the Gospel
• Eph 6:15 and with your feet fitted with the
readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.
• Evangelism?
• Bible Knowledge Commentary says, “This verse
does not speak of the spreading of the gospel, for
Christians are pictured in vv. 10-16 as standing,
not advancing. Instead this refers to a believer's
stability or surefootedness from the gospel which
gives him peace so he can stand in the battle.
38. Eph 6:15, The Gospel’s Assurance
• Eph 6:15…the gospel of peace.

Pre-Trib
• When God/Jesus puts of “the helmet of
salvation” the remnant of Jews will be saved?
42. Eph 6:17, The Pre-Trib
Helmet Of Salvation
• 1 Thes 5:4-11 But you, brothers, are not in darkness so
that this day should surprise you like a thief. 5 You are
all sons of the light and sons of the day. We do not
belong to the night or to the darkness…8 But since we
belong to the day, let us be self-controlled, putting on
faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of
salvation as a helmet. 9 For God did not appoint us to
suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord
Jesus Christ. 10 He died for us so that, whether we are
awake or asleep, we may live together with him. 11
Therefore encourage one another and build each other
up, just as in fact you are doing.
43. Eph 6:17, The Helmet Of Salvation

reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not
counting men's sins against them. And he has
