12. OBSERVATIONS
According to Grimes in Beyond Sticky Notes: Using Digital Tools and Resources
to Teach Comprehension Strategies, she suggests a move away from the
physical sticky note because “it limits students to a single means of action and
expression.”(300).
• In a environment with limited resources, I think the use of sticky notes was
appropriate because it taught note-taking skills as well how to separate
specific pieces of information into categories that while functioning together
are very different.
• The use of the notes were just one aspect of the guided inquiry process, it
was not the end result merely a link in the knowledge chain that students
were expected to pull from when creating their pictures.
• So even though the note itself was a single form of expression it was used to
create something more dynamic.
