2. Step 1
Think of the book, movie, TV show, cartoon, or
other source you would like to write fanfiction for
It can be anything from your current favourite paperback novel to
the old TV cartoons you used to watch as a child.
3. Step 2
Brush up your subject knowledge
If you haven’t watched/read the original work recently, do so.
People read fanfiction because they are fans of the original work,
and they’d like it to be accurate to the original work (characters,
settings, key ideas).
4. Step 3
Choose the characters you’d like to write about
You can have as many or as few as you’d like.
Make the characters similar to their true identities - or explore the
possibilities of a different personality.
You can add a new character, but make sure it is original.
5. Step 4
Think of what you’d like to write about
You can set the story in the past - a prequel-, in the present
-what is currently happening-, or in the future - what could
happen to the story.
It can be somewhere completely different, in an entirely
unique setting or time period. [alternative universe]
6. Step 5
Capture the mood
Dark and mysterious or lighthearted writing? There has to
be a mood and you can choose any.
8. Step 7
Revise and proofread
Make sure there are no spelling or grammar errors.
Ask the teacher to correct or improve it.
Make your writing the best it can be.
9. Step 8
Publish your work
If you wrote it, for sure there are people out there somewhere who
want to read it.
Look for a fanfiction page to publish it.
