British inventions of
 XIX-XX centuries
 XIX and XX centuries are famous for
  different scientific breakthroughs all
  over the world.
 There are a lot of different inventions of
that period that you may haven’t
  realised the British have invented.
 However, British people aren’t good
  sellers.
1. The television
2. Stereo
3. The World Wide Web
4. The train
5. The cat's eye
6. Photography
7. The light bulb
8. The electric motor
9. Bagless vacuum cleaner
10. Radar
 You can find electric motors in everything
    from vacuum cleaners (another British
invention) to eco-friendly cars these days, but
they owe it all to Michael Faraday, who first
came up with the idea in 1821.
 It was Faraday who first proved the principle
    of electromagnetism
 Thomas Wedgewood created pictures of
insect wings using silver nitrate on leather in
    1802.
 William Henry Fox Talbot - the man who
    invented the Calotype, a negative/positive
development process that became the basis
    for modern photography.
 The invention of the light bulb is normally
credited to US inventor Thomas Alva
Edison, who patented his discovery in 1879.
 The problem is he was beaten by a year by
British whizz Joseph Swann, who even came
up with the idea of a carbon filament bulb
    some 10 years previously.
 The television is actually a British
invention, made by Scotsman John Logie
    Baird in February 1924.
 In 1932 he made the first TV broadcast
    between London and Glasgow.
 Experiments with color TV-sets
 The first steam trains appeared in the early
19th Century, but it wasn't until George
    Stephenson's Rocket arrived in 1829.
 His train was the only steam train to
complete a 50-mile round trip as part of the
    Rainhill trials.
 Alan Blumenlein invented stereo,
  because he thought the monophonic
music of his day lacked realism,
  patenting the idea in 1933.
 Work on HDTV broadcasting (1953).
 Development of radar during WWII
 Radar was developed by Scotsman
  Robert Watson-Watt, who proposed
that enemy aircraft could be detected
  by radio waves.
 By 1940, 19 Radio Direction Finder
(RDF) stations were in place across the
  UK.
 In 1989, Berners-Lee proposed a global
hypertext project, to be known as the World
    Wide Web.
 It was designed to allow people to work
together by combining their knowledge in a
    web of hypertext documents.
 James Dyson is the definitive British technical
    innovator. His dual-cycle bagless vacuum
cleaner took over 5,000 prototypes to
    perfect, but became the fastest-selling
    vacuum cleaner in British history.
 After five years and 5,127 prototypes, Dyson
launched the “G-Force” cleaner in 1983.
 After five years and 5,127 prototypes, Dyson
launched the “G-Force” cleaner in 1983.
 This device was invented by the Englishman
Percy Shaw, born in Yorkshire in 1890.
 He invented it after he had been driving on a
dark, winding road on a foggy night. He was
saved from going off the side of the hill by a
cat, whose eyes reflected his car’s lights.
 . For his invention, Shaw was awarded the
    OBE in 1965.
Which of these things were invented
by British people?
 Elastic fabric(эластичная ткань)
 The wheel
 Matches(спички)
 Sunglasses
 Knife
 Rubber band
 Paper
 Greeting cards
Elastic fabric, Matches, Sunglasses ,Rubber
band, Greeting cards were invented by British
people.

Other interesting inventions are:
 Electric toaster
 Flush toilet
 Stereophonic recording
 Carbonated soft drinks
 There were a lot of inventions in XIX-XX
centuries and they are very important even
    nowadays.
 The UK is still making new inventions .
 The inventions were spread in different
    spheres of science.
 We should develop science in XXI century to
make our life easier and faster
