4. TAPSCOTT AWARD CATEGORIES
Collaboration
It is a profoundly new
approach to orchestrate
capability to innovate,
create goods and
services, and solve
problems. It leads to
collaborative innovation
and is now an essential
skill, as important as
budgeting, R&D, and
planning.
Openness
It is not simply an
obligation to report
information to an
external party like a
regulator or an
institutional investor; it’s
a new competitive force
and an essential
precondition for building
productive relationships
with potential
collaborators.
Sharing
It is about the releasing or
handing over of assets – by
placing them in “the
commons” for others to use
or by sharing them with
interested users under
agreements that may
generate license revenue. It
is not limited to patents and
copyrights, nor is it confined
to business instead it is
redefining the public space
and goods in an increasingly
crowded and interdependent
world.
Integrity
The three values – honesty,
consideration and
accountability – together
with transparency are the
foundation of trust and
integrity.
It helps public and private
enterprises to become more
integrated with the societies
they serve, more attuned to
social and environmental
concerns, and better
equipped to develop
pragmatic and profitable
solutions for advancing the
common good.
Interdependence
Interdependence of actions
and events means we have
no option than to try to
encourage and enforce
mutual cooperation through
a new division of labor
among the four key pillars of
society: business,
government, the civic sector,
and a new pillar enabled by
the Internet- the individual
citizen.
