As you might have already heard of the term “The Money Is In The List”, many people are still failing to make money through their list. A common question I see people asking is why they are still not able to generate income with their list? In order to prevent problems like this, you should make use of an effective email marketing strategy. First of all you will need a system in order to capture your leads. Step 1: Awareness Many people forget about this in email marketing and just jumps straight to step 2. Don’t skip this step! Awareness or attention is what makes the users click on your email to open it. Many times, as I always do is read the subject of the email and then press the delete button. Why? Because the subject is not getting my attention. This means your email subject lines need to be the best of the best. For one email, think of 10 different subject lines, then choose the top 3 you think is the most attention seeking. From the three then choose the best one or even split testing to see which has the more opening rates. Step 2: Interest You need to let your readers to relate to the products. Let them know what the product is able to OFFER them. Don’t just babble all about how great the product is with all these crazy functions. Let them know what it can DO for them. For example in my article “Everything you need to start making money blogging“, I explain to them what the product is able to do for them in order to save the readers trouble. Step 3: Desire Now that your readers are interested in your product. They will need to find reasons into wanting the product even more. For your email campaign, maybe you can show different success stories and build an emotional connection. Go into details and get deep down into their emotion. For example, my blog is about making money online, but to connect with the users I use how frustrating it is working a 9-5 job making pennies where I can live free and earn loads more. This is an example of ‘desire’. Step 4: Action (not the last step) This is where you get your readers to do an action whether it be clicking onto a sales link or hitting the reply button. Once you have the first three steps successfully created, it shouldn’t be hard for your readers to do the action. Make it simple enough for them so it is a single step instead of having to go through thousands of next buttons to your goal. BONUS: Retention This extra step is where it separates the big earners and the small fries. Why is retention so important? Well, the effort to get one reader to do the action is hard enough. Once you have built a relationship, it will be much easier for the already interested to do what you tell them to. Make sure you follow up your readers and create up-sells, you will be amazed how easy it takes to persuade your already interested readers.
