Change Through Digital Inclusion  and effective use of Technology 1 Shabakat Al Ordon is a not-for-profit private association (according to the Jordanian associations law 2009).  It was previously incubated at Queen Zein Institute for Development since 2002 as a program launched by HM King Abdullah II. Until May 2010 our program has empowered more than 12,000 community members who incubated more than 3,500 life transforming projects, facilitated by 700  Arabic Youth - include 350 females - who provided 65,000 man days in 225 authorized locations since 2006. We target Youth [ age group 18 - 35 ] from communities across the Kingdom CDI What is it all about? 2 Positive Change   We use the youth in a community and give them the skills they need to positively impact their communities We give the youth the skills, knowledge, and attitude they need to be able to use technology to better their lives In return .. These youth reach out to members of their community to teach them on how to effectively use technology to impact their life 1 2 3

CDI Get involved  Opportunity:   our program represents an opportunity to differentiate your brand, and focus your corporate social responsibility efforts in a proven model, that effectively delivers positive change to the grass root level and in a relatively short period of time. 4 Contributing Partner Lead Partner Platinum Partner ($) Financial contributions  from 5,000 JD and up to nearly 250,000 JD - as above- can achieve a transformational impact on 100 up to 10,000 local community members. CDI positive change journals 11 Mohammad Ghnem (Balqa )  Student, Rahmah College at Balqa University.   Mohammad cannot speak or hear, Despite this setback, Mohammad decided to attend his first class, after which the university found him an interpreter.  "I consider myself a very lucky man and thank God that I joined Shabakat  because it helped my life in many ways," Mohammad comments, "My computer skills have improved and now I use the computer for studying.  The business development training is very useful, now I can realize my dream to establish a shop that sells CDs and books for those with special needs, which is not currently available in this area.  In addition, I would like to open a workshop that sells natural soap using olive oil products, which has also been a dream of mine.  Thank you Shabakat!"   Seraj Oran( Tafeelah )  University graduate, owns a mobile phone store With SHABAKAT Seraj learned new business concepts in the areas of management and marketing. He decided to customize his offers by creating different packages to suit diverse needs of his customers.  Seraj was pleasantly surprised when his sales increased within a month of introducing new offers. Seraj had the pleasure of meeting HMK Abdullah II during his visit to a SHABAKAT center and told him about the positive impact of the skills he learned with Shabakat on his business.  The King's positive response to his achievements inspired Seraj to share his knowledge with others by offering marketing and project management training for small and medium enterprise entrepreneurs in his community. Khitam Al Da'san ( Zarqa)  School Teacher at Refugee Camp in Zarqa .   Joined the program to develop her personality, and learn more about Information Technology.  After joining Shabakat, Khitam's computer skills improved greatly.  She now uses these skills to help prepare lessons using Microsoft Word to create worksheets, PowerPoint as a teaching aid to enrich the learning environment in the class room, and Excel to complete math exercises, and track student marks. not only has Khitam's success allowed her to diversify her lesson plan, but also the ability to introduce her students to the beneficial uses of Information Technology. Thaerah Arabeyat ( Balqa)  Fashion Designer .   Thaerah found the program aligned with her needs, especially in the areas of planning and project management.  Now Thaerah is able to apply the skills she learned in SHABAKAT in order to design ads and brochures to promote her designs.  Also, she improved the quality of her work by researching on the Internet to locate the latest fashion designs and models. ”Using technology applications, I managed to improve my marketing techniques, and financial planning due to what I learned by enrolling to SHABAKAT.” Thaera said. CDI more  positive change journals 12 Barwiz (Ghor Al Safi/Valley  )  5 year old mute child.   Diagnosed as a mute by his teachers and illiterate parents who are in deep poverty (Income less than JD50 a month) Barwwiz often had trouble participating in kindergarten and playing and communicating with other children. Barwiz's first introduction to the computer was through Shabakat. He excelled, and immediately learned how to turn the computer on and off and how to navigate through software.  Most impressively for a child of his age, Barwiz quickly mastered the motor skills required to to move the mouse while looking directly at the screen, and was able to jump between exercises in the software without hesitation.  Due to the self-confidence he developed through his new computer skills, Barwiz now loves school and is no longer mute! He interacts well with his classmates. During the Ghor al Safi Community graduation ceremony, Barwiz demonstrated his new talents to community applause. Thikra ( Amman )  4 year old orphan, Al-Hussein Society orphanage Thikra did not go to kindergarten, did not have coloring books or games.  Her life is different from most children because she does not live with her parents; she is an orphan who lives in the Al-Hussein Society orphanage.  When she began the SHABAKAT program Thikra used to prepare herself everyday for her class by getting her books and making sure she did her homework, hoping that Ms. Shatha (SHABAKAT Youth) would tell her that she did a good job and reward her by placing a star on her forehead.  Before SHABAKAT was introduced to the orphanage, kids there would not receive education until they are old enough to move to the orphanage for older children where they start at the first grade in public school.  Thikra loves the computer and knows how to play the numbers song on the computer.  She is also capable of writing her name.  Thikra and her friends at the Al-Hussein Society have been impacted greatly by SHABAKAT.  Muhsina ( Bseira/Tafeela)  Mother of 12, dropped school at 4 th  grade .   Although there is a computer in Muhsina’s home, she did not know how to use it.  Initially, Muhsina was reluctant to join SHABAKAT due to her responsibilities of taking care for her children, lack of transportation, and her weak skills in written Arabic.  Muhsina attended an orientation session and was encouraged to participate by SHABAKAT Youth.  She mastered the computer skills taught through the program and has improved her writing skills as well.  “My weakness in writing is no longer an obstacle.  Through SHABAKAT I became familiar with the parts of the computer and their various functions and I enjoyed the entertaining and educational software. SHABAKAT Youth even helped me learn how to use Microsoft Word to write,” Muhsina recounts.  “I have learned [so much] about the computer and I thank everyone involved in SHABAKAT” Amani Al Manni ( Karak)  University Degree in Educational Sciences .   Since her first day at Muatah University Amani has been an active volunteer in the areas of youth and leadership.  Amani attended Shabakat awareness session, and was invited to become one of the SHABAKAT Youth. She hesitated at first because she thought the training would be purely theoretical.  However, after joining the program she realized the program was balanced between theory and practice.  She was impressed with the comprehensive yet modern approach adopted in the training.  She was part of many community outreach projects where she conducted field surveys in her community. Amani’s objective  was to get a good job opportunity,  she did not get a single job offer until she updated her CV with what she learned during her participation in Shabakat.  which allowed her to obtain a job with Relief International Schools online as an Arabic Teacher and Youth Support Officer.  Amani says: “ I am very thankful to Shabakat, this experience truly changed my life ! “  from the field

  • 2. Change Through Digital Inclusion and effective use of Technology 1 Shabakat Al Ordon is a not-for-profit private association (according to the Jordanian associations law 2009). It was previously incubated at Queen Zein Institute for Development since 2002 as a program launched by HM King Abdullah II. Until May 2010 our program has empowered more than 12,000 community members who incubated more than 3,500 life transforming projects, facilitated by 700  Arabic Youth - include 350 females - who provided 65,000 man days in 225 authorized locations since 2006. CDI our flag ship program is …

We target Youth [ age group 18 - 35 ] from communities across the Kingdom CDI What is it all about? 2 Positive Change We use the youth in a community and give them the skills they need to positively impact their communities We give the youth the skills, knowledge, and attitude they need to be able to use technology to better their lives In return .. CDI Get involved Opportunity: our program represents an opportunity to differentiate your brand, and focus your corporate social responsibility efforts in a proven model, that effectively delivers positive change to the grass root level and in a relatively short period of time. 4 Contributing Partner Lead Partner Platinum Partner ($) Financial contributions from 5,000 JD and up to nearly 250,000 JD - as above- can achieve a transformational impact on 100 up to 10,000 local community members. The modularity of the program allows you to adopt a number of people , a certain theme , or a certain geographical location . Mohammad cannot speak or hear, Despite this setback, Mohammad decided to attend his first class, after which the university found him an interpreter. "I consider myself a very lucky man and thank God that I joined Shabakat because it helped my life in many ways," Mohammad comments, "My computer skills have improved and now I use the computer for studying. The business development training is very useful, now I can realize my dream to establish a shop that sells CDs and books for those with special needs, which is not currently available in this area. In addition, I would like to open a workshop that sells natural soap using olive oil products, which has also been a dream of mine. Thank you Shabakat!" Seraj Oran( Tafeelah ) University graduate, owns a mobile phone store With SHABAKAT Seraj learned new business concepts in the areas of management and marketing. He decided to customize his offers by creating different packages to suit diverse needs of his customers. Seraj was pleasantly surprised when his sales increased within a month of introducing new offers. Seraj had the pleasure of meeting HMK Abdullah II during his visit to a SHABAKAT center and told him about the positive impact of the skills he learned with Shabakat on his business. The King's positive response to his achievements inspired Seraj to share his knowledge with others by offering marketing and project management training for small and medium enterprise entrepreneurs in his community. Khitam Al Da'san ( Zarqa) School Teacher at Refugee Camp in Zarqa . Joined the program to develop her personality, and learn more about Information Technology. After joining Shabakat, Khitam's computer skills improved greatly. She now uses these skills to help prepare lessons using Microsoft Word to create worksheets, PowerPoint as a teaching aid to enrich the learning environment in the class room, and Excel to complete math exercises, and track student marks. not only has Khitam's success allowed her to diversify her lesson plan, but also the ability to introduce her students to the beneficial uses of Information Technology. Thaerah Arabeyat ( Balqa) Fashion Designer . Thaerah found the program aligned with her needs, especially in the areas of planning and project management. Now Thaerah is able to apply the skills she learned in SHABAKAT in order to design ads and brochures to promote her designs. Also, she improved the quality of her work by researching on the Internet to locate the latest fashion designs and models. ”Using technology applications, I managed to improve my marketing techniques, and financial planning due to what I learned by enrolling to SHABAKAT.” Thaera said.   • 13. CDI more positive change journals 12 Barwiz (Ghor Al Safi/Valley ) 5 year old mute child. Diagnosed as a mute by his teachers and illiterate parents who are in deep poverty (Income less than JD50 a month) Barwwiz often had trouble participating in kindergarten and playing and communicating with other children. Barwiz's first introduction to the computer was through Shabakat. He excelled, and immediately learned how to turn the computer on and off and how to navigate through software. Most impressively for a child of his age, Barwiz quickly mastered the motor skills required to to move the mouse while looking directly at the screen, and was able to jump between exercises in the software without hesitation. Due to the self-confidence he developed through his new computer skills, Barwiz now loves school and is no longer mute! He interacts well with his classmates. During the Ghor al Safi Community graduation ceremony, Barwiz demonstrated his new talents to community applause. Thikra ( Amman ) 4 year old orphan, Al-Hussein Society orphanage Thikra did not go to kindergarten, did not have coloring books or games. Her life is different from most children because she does not live with her parents; she is an orphan who lives in the Al-Hussein Society orphanage. When she began the SHABAKAT program Thikra used to prepare herself everyday for her class by getting her books and making sure she did her homework, hoping that Ms. Shatha (SHABAKAT Youth) would tell her that she did a good job and reward her by placing a star on her forehead. Before SHABAKAT was introduced to the orphanage, kids there would not receive education until they are old enough to move to the orphanage for older children where they start at the first grade in public school. Thikra loves the computer and knows how to play the numbers song on the computer. She is also capable of writing her name. Thikra and her friends at the Al-Hussein Society have been impacted greatly by SHABAKAT. Muhsina ( Bseira/Tafeela) Mother of 12, dropped school at 4 th grade . Although there is a computer in Muhsina’s home, she did not know how to use it. Initially, Muhsina was reluctant to join SHABAKAT due to her responsibilities of taking care for her children, lack of transportation, and her weak skills in written Arabic. Muhsina attended an orientation session and was encouraged to participate by SHABAKAT Youth. She mastered the computer skills taught through the program and has improved her writing skills as well. “My weakness in writing is no longer an obstacle. Through SHABAKAT I became familiar with the parts of the computer and their various functions and I enjoyed the entertaining and educational software. SHABAKAT Youth even helped me learn how to use Microsoft Word to write,” Muhsina recounts. “I have learned [so much] about the computer and I thank everyone involved in SHABAKAT” Amani Al Manni ( Karak) University Degree in Educational Sciences . Since her first day at Muatah University Amani has been an active volunteer in the areas of youth and leadership. Amani attended Shabakat awareness session, and was invited to become one of the SHABAKAT Youth. She hesitated at first because she thought the training would be purely theoretical. However, after joining the program she realized the program was balanced between theory and practice. She was impressed with the comprehensive yet modern approach adopted in the training. She was part of many community outreach projects where she conducted field surveys in her community. Amani’s objective was to get a good job opportunity, she did not get a single job offer until she updated her CV with what she learned during her participation in Shabakat. which allowed her to obtain a job with Relief International Schools online as an Arabic Teacher and Youth Support Officer.
