Here is one strategy for using College Road Maps to guide students
through their high school years.
Beginning in the 9th grade, issue students their own College Road Map.
No college commitments required. But starting in the 9th, students will
learn how to chronicle academic, community service, athletic and artistic
activity that may serve their future college aspirations.

Students can chronicle their activity by recording notes, linking videos,
documents and websites.

Coaches can click on “Notes” icon of the Student’s Map.
When working with students, college coaches can use the
map to monitor progress and to chronicle their interaction.

Students can schedule all “Meetings” and “ Next Actions”

Once meetings are scheduled……

Students can schedule
reminders:
“Email” reminders can be
delivered up to a week
before the meeting.

If you have students date stamp
their meetings and actions and then,
schedule “Tasks”……………

Meetings and next actions show up on their map…

And they create “One” overview of all activity:
- Tasks and meetings they have completed, and
- Tasks and meetings to be completed.

In addition, they have created a timeline that lists all tasks.

If a student adds a link to their online test prep account:

They will have one-click access to their ePrep login.

For accessing SAT/ACT Test prep tutorials and exercises.

If students take time to install college website links:

They will create “one-site”
access to all colleges under
consideration.

If students upload “Letters of Recommendation”

They will be creating “one-site”
access to documents required
for college applications.

Students can share their
College Road Map
with their support team
by generating a “view only” link

Support team members

Throughout high school student goals and interests will change.
College Road Maps are easily modified to reflect new aspirations.
When setting up a College Road Map System, college prep coaches
are choosing to either:
- Manage the data entry and scheduling on each student’s map, or
- Teach students how to manage their own mapping process.
