BRITISH EDUCATION SYSTEM types of school stages subjects school year uniforms
TYPES OF SCHOOL - “ Private ” school “ Public ” school = (you have to pay) ,[object Object],[object Object],- “ State ”/” Comprehensive ” school ( run by the goverment/free education)
STAGES Nursery education (2/3 – 5 years old) Primary School Infants Juniors Secondary School (11- 16 years old) - Secondary Modern schools ,[object Object],Sixth Form / College (A levels) - Grammar schools (for gifted children) (5- 7 years old) (7- 11 years old) General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE) Vocational Studies University (18- 21 years old) (16-18 years old)
QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor of Arts Master of Art Bachelor of Science Master of Science Doctor of Philosophy : a document you receive after training . : the award you receive after finishing university sucesfully.
SUBJECTS English language & literature Modern language Science (Biology & Chemistry) Technology / Computer Studies History & Geography Physical Education Maths Music & Art 1 + 1 = 2 Aa Bb Cc Je suis Ich Yo
SCHOOL YEAR 3 terms 9 a.m – 3.30 p.m ( 1 hour for lunch ) Timetables Holidays 9 weeks At Easter At Christmas In summer
UNIFORMS The Traditional English Schoolboy The traditional school boy is dressed in blazer , cap and short trousers , and carrying a shiny leather bag . The time-honoured blazer with the school badge on the breast pocket is still worn by many pupils, but caps, short trousers and small sacks are now mostly the preserve of the more traditional preparatory. The Eton Suit (early 1900s)
