Rebecca was an RN student at the VA Medical Center under my preceptorship. She functioned
for seventy two hours in our Urgent Care Department. During this time, Rebecca was able to
enhance her focus assessment skills, improve her documentation skills, acquire a lot of IV
insertion experience, better her bedside manner communication with patients, review and
analyze patient diagnostics, as well as educate and discharge patients.
Rebecca is a very hard worker with a wonderful personality. She is an intelligent and motivated
individual. She never missed an opportunity to learn or help out all of the staff and patients of the
Urgent Care. Over the course of the seventy two hours, Rebecca was able to bring together all
that she had learned and function independently by the end of the preceptorship.
In addition to being a quick learner, Rebecca is very personable. She was able to get along with
all of the patients and staff she interacted with. Rebecca was not afraid to ask questions when she
didn’t know something. She was also able to communicate effectively with our physicians and
able to hand off report to other nurses without difficulty. There is no doubt Rebecca will make a
terrific RN to any team in any department.
