Fiscal year (FY) 2013-14 ended on June 30
and was a good one for both Community
Warehouse (CW) and Milwaukee Working
(MW).
CW’s numbers are positive. Retail sales
were up 31% from the previous year. Mem-
bership saw an increase, 421 new members,
5% over last fiscal year, and 618 active
members renewed, a 15% increase over the
previous year. The upward trend continues
into the current fiscal year. We are encour-
aged that our customers are benefitting
from our top of the line products.
MW’s numbers are up, too. We have
had 6 successful book and CD collection
drives in the last several months. Pallet pro-
duction has shown an increase from 80 to
150/day with a goal of 250 daily. We are
close to our goal of selling 3,000 pallets in
October. Thanks to the Loerke Family, we
have 2 new pallet disassembly machines that
allow to us tear pallets apart faster speeding
up production. Our collaboration with Tools
& Stuff, a for profit partner in the tool acqui-
sition and selling operation, is in its beginning
stages. We have been listing tools for 5
months; currently selling 5 to 10 per day in-
cluding our listings on Craigslist. At this time,
our ability to get a supply of high quality
tools is seasonal and not constant.
God meant him to be.
Tyrone was employed at CW
until March of 2014. Tyrone
comes back to CW often and
brightens up the place with
his wide happy smile!
As is the case for all of the
men and women at MW and
CW, there is more to the
story. Stay tuned.

The first thing you see is
Tyrone’s bright and engaging
smile. Flash back a couple of
years. Many who knew him
would say his future was not
very bright…if you are using
words like: responsible, hard
working, honest, family man,
God fearing.
Tyrone is one of 5 children
raised by a strong single moth-
er who did her best to raise
responsible children. Despite
her best efforts, he fell into a
pattern of making bad
decisions that eventually land-
ed him in prison. As his
release date approached,
Tyrone felt nervous about

freedom and had ques-
tions and doubts about
his future.
A Milwaukee YWCA
program designed to
help individuals with
challenged backgrounds
find employment
connected him with
Community Warehouse
(CW). Among the
things he learned while
employed at CW: take
direction willingly, swal-
low your pride and
admit that it is ok that
you don’t know every-
thing. CW quickly
became a haven; a place
to find love and sup-
port; a place to be
nurtured and molded
into the kind of man

Reaching
into the
Community
Community Warehouse (CW)
has been actively working to
expand its footprint within the
Community Development
Block Grant Zones that it
serves. During 2014, CW has
hosted open houses to give
community leaders, property
managers and others an oppor-
tunity to see the high quality
building materials that are
available for use in properties
within these zones. Over the
summer, CW began relation-
ships with area schools
introducing parents and staff
members to CW and explain
how membership could benefit
them.
Three pallets of tile were
donated to the Construction
Department at Bradley Tech
High School.
Kudos to CW staff Adalis
Rivera and Ray Robakowski
and volunteer Sarah Nielson
for their hard work.
