Thomas Edison was an American inventor, scientist, and businessman.

He is credited with inventing the phonograph, the motion picture camera
and a long-lasting, practical electric light bulb.

He is also credited with numerous inventions that contributed to mass
communication and, in particular telecommunications.

Thomas Edison died on October 18, 1931, in his home, in West Orange,
New Jersey, which he had purchased in 1886 as a wedding gift for his
wife. He is buried behind the home.

Nikola Tesla, a Serbian by birth, was an inventor, mechanical engineer and an
electrical engineer.

He made important contributor to the birth of commercial electricity, and is best
known for his many revolutionary developments in the ﬁeld of
electromagnetism.

Tesla’s patents and theoretical work formed the basis of modern alternating
current (AC) electrical power systems and the AC motor. This work helped
usher in the Second Industrial Revolution.

Tesla demonstrated wireless energy transfer to power electronic devices as
early as 1893.

Tesla died with little money at the age of 86 in a hotel suite in New York City.

His body was cremated and his ashes taken to Belgrade, Serbia, then
Yugoslavia in 1957. The urn was placed in the Nikola Tesla Museum Belgrade.
