Bleomycin-induced Lung Fibrosis
The Problem
The fibrotic lesions generated by bleomycin are
heterogeneous and vary depending on the route of
induction.
The heterogeneous nature of the lesion makes it
challenging at best to reconcile hydroxyproline
measures with the histological measures, particularly
with the intra-tracheal administration model.
Our unique solution
Using a patented contrast agent and high-resolution
microCT imaging, we obtain images that allow you to
visualize all of the fibrosis in the entire lung at a
glance.
The fibrosis is quantified and graphed for
statistical analysis for the entire lung.
The imaging is non-destructive. The
comprehensive nature of imaging data allows a
focused approach to histology sampling or
hydroxyproline measures of collagen.

Bleomycin-induced Lung Fibrosis – MicroCT Results
3 normal and 3 (bleomycin-induced) fibrotic lungs scanned at 10μm resolution using MicroCT
Subcutaneous implantation of micro-pump calibrated to deliver measured dosages with an
exposure duration of 7 days
Pump removed and specimens allowed to ambulate freely for 5 weeks after administration of
reagent
