Australian retail e-commerce is in its infancy
The party’s pretty quiet
And we’re still awaiting newcomers.
Online spending on clothes is set to increase  by 138% between 2006 & 2011
Whether you’re  large or small...
Vendor or retailer...
You won’t want to miss out on this e-commerce revolution.
One vendor is already  playing in this space.
This is  Frek-Malte Feller ,  MD PayPal Australia. He said...
More than half of Australia’s  top 100 retailers are now  using PayPal. “ ”
In 2010, PayPal Australia recorded  over  3 million active  users...
and over  30,000 businesses ...
PayPal is Australia’s preferred online payment mechanism (Nielsen survey, 2009)
Australian customers like PayPal for 2 reasons:
PayPal  makes them  feel secure
PayPal  is  easier   (entering credit card details is just too tedious)
And now  PayPal  is even  mobile .
And now even more convenient than ever.
My thoughts?
Retail E-commerce in Australia  is just beginning.
Australian retailers are in a unique position today:
Firstly, the current Australian retail e-commerce market  lacks serious competition.
Secondly,  Australian customers are becoming more confident in online payment security.
Thirdly,  mobile commerce (m-commerce) is on the horizon with huge potential.
Now is the time for Australian retailers to take  e-commerce seriously.
