1. Task 3A.)
Upon reflection of the findings from the transferable skills questionnaire and people skills
questionnaire that we did in class I found many interesting traits and skills I had that I had either
forgotten about or that I never would have considered as skills. I seemed to score high on quite
a few of the skills on the questionnaire. In fact, there was only two categories that I feel I
struggled with. The numeracy and the communication by speech sections.
I feel I excelled on the rest of the questionnaire as I scored quite high on the question sections. I
scored quite high on the first skill as I feel I am quite a good team worker which I have proven
over the years in my many group work projects and as a member of various different rugby
teams. The next of my top five skills was the listening skill. Part of my penultimate and last year
in school I had to complete an RSR project which entailed having to subconsciously take notes
whilst watching research videos and doing one on one interviews.
The third of my top five skills was leadership. In all my years of playing rugby I was always a
scrum half, although you wouldn't imagine it, one of the main roles of scrum half consists of
being the first one on the ball in order to organise and lead the following play. As part of our
course this year there is a lot of group work involved, this initially made me anxious but I have
come to see that its not as scary as I thought , as I feel I have excelled and taken control of my
nerves in order to lead whatever group I'm put in.
The penultimate skill on my list was the physical skill. I have always been quite athletic as I was
a member of athletics clubs, rugby clubs, boxing clubs and gyms from a very young age.
Physical work has always been something I enjoy and therefore I was not surprised at this skill
scoring highly on my questionnaire. Physical tasks do not phase me as I generally catch on
quite quickly.
The final skill on my questionnaire was time management. I have always been good at
managing my time in order of relevance and hardly ever struggle to do so efficiently. I work full
time of 41 hours a week plus full time in college and have not had a single late assignment, I
believe this proves my point.
The transferable skills questionnaire and people skills questionnaire really opened my eyes over
some old and new skills I have and have gained since joining IADT.
