3. Becoming a Licensed Home Inspector
in Florida
In order to become a licensed home inspector in the
state of Florida, one is required to pass the National
Home Inspector Examination (NHIE), which is
administered by the Examination Board of
Professional Health Inspectors (EBPHI). Applicants
train in approved courses of study that are 120
hours long. These courses detail the structure of a
home, roof covering, electric and plumbing
systems, exterior elements, and various factors that
impact a structure.
4. Becoming a Licensed Home Inspector

After completing the required courses, the
application is then submitted with a processing fee;
applicants also submit to a criminal background
check. Those licensed in other states with similar
qualifications are eligible for licensure by
endorsement, however these individuals must still
file with application, fee, and release for a
background check.
