Eating in a hurry is also considered rajasic. Examples : sharp spices or strong herbs, stimulants such as coffee and teas, fish, eggs, salt and chocolate.
11. Tamasic food Includes all kinds that are not fresh and are unnatural, overcooked, stale and processed The body's resistance to disease is destroyed and the mind gets filled with dark emotions, such as anger and greed. Overeating is also considered tamasic. Examples: meat, alcohol, tobacco, onions, garlic, pastries, pizzas, burgers, chocolates, soft drinks , canned and preserved foods like jams, jellies, pickles, fried foods, sweets made from sugar, ice creams, pudding, junk foods, spicy, salty, sweet, and fatty foods
12. Sattvic Diet All natural and pure form of food is sattvik. Satvic food is one that can be digested easily and brings balance to one's mind. It helps in building immunity and improving the healing response in those who are unwell. A Sattvic Diet leads to true health; a peaceful mind in control of a fit body, with a balanced flow of energy between them. Examples: Cereals, Whole meal bread, Fresh fruit, Vegetables, Pure fresh Juices, Milk, Butter, Cheese, Legumes, Nuts, Sprouted seeds & whole grains, Spices, Natural sweeteners, Herbal teas and Oils .
13. Sattvic food principles. Eat from the farm as often as possible. Avoid all foods that have been wrongly prepared, i.e. overcooked, undercooked, burnt, unripe, over-ripe, putrefied or stale. Sit whilst eating, in an isolated, clean area. Pray and give thanks to Mother Nature for providing you with food. Eat alone or with people you know and trust. Avoid habitual uses of restaurants. Only someone who loves you should be permitted to cook for you, transferring his or her love into the food. Concentrate on your meal… no TV, radio, music or conversation should distract you. Sit and chat afterwards. At the end of the meal give thanks, clean your mouth, apply water to the eyes to prevent weakening of vision due to high heat from digestion, urinate, and then walk 100 steps!
14. Purity of food leads to purity of mind. Sattvicfood helps meditation. The discipline of food is very necessary for Yogic Sadhana. If the tongue is controlled, all the other Indriyasare controlled.
15. By following “Sattvic Lifestyle” which includes mindfulness, discipline, spiritual practices like prayer, yoga and meditation, and cultivating virtuous qualities such as honesty, non-violence, compassion, contentment, selflessness, following a SattvicFoodstyle and so on... We can attain “Anand”(blissful state).
