The High 5 program introduces middle and junior high school students to 5 important leadership areas, using activities and experiences from their own local chapter, their school, and the business community. Members also explore career paths and develop deeper connections to their school.
Students complete 25 projects (5 Leadership Areas with 5 Leadership Activities) correlated to 20 business, professional, technical and leadership skills, including:CommunicationBusiness MathCritical ThinkingDecision MakingEntrepreneurshipResearchand much moreAdvisers can assign the activities in any order, and can even choose which activities the members will complete. Members do not need to complete all 25 activities.
A youthful design keeps middle and junior high school students engaged in the 25 activities. The Leadership Areas are color coded and make use of icons and symbols, making it easy for Advisers (and members) to navigate through the High 5 Program.
The 25 activities help middle and junior high school students develop 20 essential business skills. A Skills Summary sheet shows which skills are integrated into each activity.
The Adviser Guide includes step-by-step instructions for introducing and using each activity, including tips, related tools (such as PowerPoint slides and websites), and Frequently Asked Questions.
Advisers can deliver the program and activities in any format and in any order. Because it is a year-round program, Advisers can implement the High 5 Program based on their classroom or chapter schedule, and cover the activities that complement their curriculum. Advisers may also use the High 5 Program as an after-school program or as a chapter project.Advisers may also substitute activities and resources to meet their teaching style and curriculum needs.
A downloadable spreadsheet helps advisers keep track of each member’s progress.
Recognition is frequent and is done at the chapter level. Once a member completes all 5 activities in a particular Leadership Area, simply login to the membership registration area, choose the member’s name, and print his or her personalized certificate.
Once a member completes all 5 Leadership Areas, he or she will receive a National Recognition certificate.
There is no additional cost to use the High 5 Program – the program is included as part of your membership dues. You can also use the program year-round and customize it to meet your academic needs.
