1. An in depth analysis into the results gathered
from the average audience.
Results are taken from fifty teenagers.
2.
Text box answer – any input is allowed.
This question had a lot of varied answers, but most of them revolved around the general time of
once per week (sixty percent), twenty four percent of responses stated that they don’t buy
magazines, and the rest said that they would buy them once every two weeks to once a month.
The general consensus was that most readers would buy the magazine if it were published
weekly, and this is very useful to me in terms of setting a price for the magazine, people would
be more inclined to buy it weekly if it was at an affordable price. It is not surprising to see that
quite a few of the people questioned stated that they don’t buy magazines, which also tells me
that these results should only be taken with a pinch of salt, as some of the responses will be
from people who probably wouldn’t consider buying the magazine in the first place.
How often do you buy music
magazines?
3.
Pop – 24%
Rock – 46%
Metal –16%
Rap – 10%
Hip Hop – 6%
This question was multiple choice, and I only gave them these five to choose from as these are
the five my magazine would be focused around. The majority of people chose rock, followed up
by pop and then the rest. This information gives me a good idea of the type of bands I should
feature in my magazine, and also allows me some insight into which bands would be a safe pick
when it comes to generating sales and getting main features.
What’s your favored type of
music?
4.
Facebook – 64%
Twitter – 54%
Pinterest – 12%
Tumblr – 18%
Instagaram – 38%
Google Plus – 0%
I chose to ask this question for two reasons; the main reason was to determine the most effective
ways of advertising and adding some features to the magazine (Facebook pages, Twitter
handles, etc.) – the secondary reason though was to see which of these was the most popular as
this would help me with choosing a publishing house for the magazine. Previously I had
considered using Google, but with this new information I can see that it is not as popular as
once thought.
What social networks do you
often use?
5.
Yes – 76%
No – 24%
I chose to ask this question as to make sure that what I presumed earlier would be
correct (luckily it was), not only was this question used as a buffer to make sure, but
it also informed me on the popularity of magazines in general across the board.
These results confirmed that twenty four percent of the people questioned don’t
read magazines, and also gave me a good estimate on the pricing I should put on
my magazine.
Do you read music
magazines?
6.
Yes – 46%
No – 54%
I asked this question to try and see if publishing my magazine over the internet
would also be a good idea, although the majority said no, this still gives me an idea
on if I would be able to gain more readers by publishing it online. Certain
publishing houses would also have an easier time with advertising magazines
online as well, giving me more insight into the publishing houses.
Do you use the internet to
view magazines?
7.
£0.00 to £0.99 – 22%
£1.00 to £1.99 – 30%
£2.00 to £2.99 – 44%
£3.00 to £3.99 – 4%
From the responses to this question I can see that most of the people asked would
be alright with spending around two pounds to purchase my magazine. This would
allow me to push the boundaries on what I could ask of people, whilst keeping a
large amount happy with the pricing of it. This also gives me knowledge on how I
should advertise the magazine – with it being a good price, I can display this on the
cover of the magazine as a selling point.
How much money would you
spend on a magazine?
