Short presentation that ask the question about OERu program and credential pathways for students: planned pathways, or DIYU to match student aspirations?

“The OER university is an innovation partnership of
like-minded institutions committed to creating pathways
for OER learners to gain academic credit through the
formal education system.”

Is there a need to provide
models programs of study
-pathways for learners and
instructors?
What kinds of course
frameworks can we use to
maximize access to open
pathways for study?

play?

Do we need to develop templates and frameworks
for study and if so, what would those look like?
12. Discussion task
What kinds of program
pathways might make
sense as early targets for
OERu?

Notas do Editor
In British Columbia we have just started a new project to produce 40 open textbooks.
We expect to save students 3 to 5x times the investment of $1M by government.
Students like that idea.
There are many open textbook projects underway.
Each uses a Creatiev Commosn licenses, so that means the textbooks they produce will be available to world, for free.
Some savings.
My own organization has a digital library that shares hundreds of courses that have been funded by our government.
My government has invested over $11M since 2003 to create open course materials that our higher education faculty create and share with colleagues.
