My Philosophy
Darren Kehoe (O’Neill)
- Goalkeeping Coach
- Soccer Coach
- Strength & Conditioning Coach
My philosophy is to become a teacher of the game and to develop young players that will
hopefully play at a high level of soccer/football in their lifetime or career. I believe in
development and enjoyment before winning at a young player’s stage of development. I want
to teach players in a disciplined, safe, learning environment. Being able to compete & solve
challenges is still an important factor in my philosophy. As of now the success of player
development is my way of winning. Player’s technical, physical and mental aspects are
extremely important to me and my philosophy. Part of my philosophy is to be a role model
and create a social environment that makes the players feel like a unit and a team or family
both on and off the pitch. I present my players with challenges that resemble live game
situations, age and ability level appropriate, with the aim of preparing them correctly for
competitive participation. I want to produce attractive soccer/football that evolves around
possession, plenty of passing, short burst of power, speed and agility. I would like to develop
players that play soccer/football on the ground with confidence and resent from playing long
ball’s from the back to the striker. I want to develop young players and hopefully prepare
them for their next stages in the game. I will be enthusiastic and each player will be treated
with respect and equality. I shall be open to other coach’s opinions in order to gain
experience in the hope of shaping my philosophy even further.
