2. Ask For Help When You Need It.
▪ Professors will not know you need help until you ask for it.
▪ It can be unsettling and uncomfortable to ask, but it will be well
worth it in the end.
▪ If you don’t have time to meet with someone in person, email them
or ask to have a phone conversation.
4. Own Up To Your Mistakes and Take
Responsibility
▪ The first semester of college is
often times the hardest.
▪ Why?
– New environment
– New friends
– New challenges
– New expectations from
society/family/friends
▪ If you make a mistake, it’s
okay!
– We’ve all made them.
▪ The most important thing is
– taking responsibility for the
mistake
– learning from it
– and moving on
5. Face Your Fears.
▪ Meeting new people can be a
challenge for some people.
– It’s fairly simple.
▪ How do I meet new people?
– Attend an event and sit by
someone you’ve never met.
– Sit by someone in your class
you’ve never worked with.
– Avoid eating lunch in your room or
at home.
– Search Orgsync for student
organizations with similar interests
to yours.
