8. E-pals & Skype Room 8 has spent a few months connecting with e-pals from Juda, Wisconsin in America - this has been used to create a realistic reason for writing and to help the children expand their minds and connect to the outside world. Here is a comment from Hinewai (Year 6)"My e-pal lives on a farm in America and I live on a farm in New Zealand. It’s cool having an e-pal because they think we speak in a funny way. They sent us a picture and she is really pretty. We skyped our e-pals. It was a little bit scary talking to her at the start but when I saw her and started to talk, I really got into it. I really liked being able to say things and not having to wait for ages until they get it. They wanted Shane to show them his dancing and then they sang Happy Birthday to Casey."
