25. Joshua Gaul – Future of wiki-mediated tools at Empire State College Based on the results of our project, Wikispaces has made us lean in its direction, however we have determined that a good solution for us would be to build this in-house. This is for a few reasons: ---Login is easier to handle if its within an already owned software (Open Atrium) ---We aren't sure of the immediate buy-in, so spending $6000 a year on an enterprise software doesn't make sense to start. If we get lots of interest, we'll re- consider at that time. ---A little more control over use may ease the minds of end-users; we will offer this as an alternative option. If people would like to still use their existing wikis in Wikispaces, PBWiki, etc., they are welcome to. Wikispaces will be the best solution when we have a high volume of buy-in. For now, we can "duplicate" its capabilities in house, based on what you have told us are priorities in a tool like this. We are hoping to be setup for testing for the summer term or, at the latest, the fall term. Wiki Taskforce, ESC 2011
