Chipmunks are small, striped rodents of the
squirrel family. They live in underground
tunnels and hibernate in the winter.

Pythons are large snakes that live in Asia, Africa,
and Australia. They kill their prey by wrapping
themselves around it and squeezing it to death.
Pythons can reach up to 19 feet (6 meters).

Snakes are reptiles that don’t have any legs.
Some snakes are poisonous and some are not.
This rattlesnake is one of the poisonous ones, and
its rattling sound means, “Watch out!”

The vole relies on cryptic coloration, or
camouflage, as protection from predation. Since
the vole forages on the forest floor, its brownish
body color closely matches the color of dead
leaves and twigs. The vole also uses its keen
senses to detect the approach of predators.
