3. Adding two digit numbers orally is difficult for children of the primary
classes. All children make mistakes while adding mentally and lose marks.
In this tutorial I have tried to simplify addition of two digit numbers and I
have also given some exercise problems to solve on their own.
If addition sums are practiced repeatedly in this way errors can be
minimized to a large extent.
This method is easy and quick. The carry over is always 1.
Enjoy learning this new and easy method of addition. I wish you happy

Method:
Step1: The normal method is to add the first row of
numbers 4+6+5+2+3=20
Step2: 2 is carried to the second row.
Step3: Add 9+8+6+4+5+2 =34(2 is the number carried
while adding the first row of numbers)

Method:
First column addition:
Step1: Add 6+4=10. Remember 0 and put 1 on the top of 6.
Step2: Add 5+2+3=10 put 1 on top of 3 and write 0 in the answer.
Second column addition:
Step3:Add 9+8=17. Put 1 on the top of 8 and add 7 and 6.
Step4: Now (7+6)=13.
Step5: Put 1 on the top of 6 and add 3to (4+5)=12. Put 1 on the
top of the number 5.
Step6:In the first column addition there are two ones (1)written
on the top of 6 &3.
Step7: These ones (1) should be added (1+1=2).
Step8: They are carried to the second column addition.
Step9:Refer step 5. Add 2+12=14. Write 4 in the answer to the
left of zero.
Step10: Three ones (1) are written on the top of three numbers
in the second row. Add them and write 3 to the left of 4.
So the answer is 340 for the given sum.

same way.
The number of digits carried in the
First coloumn is 2.
The number of digits carried in the second
coloumn is also 2.
In the third coloumn, 9+2=11, 1 is written
on the top of 9, 1+4+3=8,
8+2(carried over digit)=10.
Put Zero in the answer to the left of 9
1+1=2; put it to the left of zero in the
answer.
Hence the answer 2098.
