Comparison and Contrast the Diploma Program and Bachelor’s Programs
There are so many similarities and differences between the diploma program and S1
Program which taken by students after senior high school. In my opinion, if the students want to
continue their study and sharpen their ability and skill that they have, they must choose diploma
program. Therefore, if they want to increase their academic knowledge, they must choose S1
program. There are some differences between diploma and S1 program such as the purpose that
the program’s have, and the time that the students have to finish.
Diploma program will teach the students to improve their skill and create the students to
be a worker in the field. In this program students require to work, interact and socialize outside
when the students meet so many people. The purpose of diploma program is to produce the
professional workers that ready to work in a team. In diploma program, Students will have more
practice on field than theory. Diploma’s students are not only learnt about academic major, but
also the most interesting in diploma program is students will learned how to make up and dress
up. The other point, diploma program only have 6 semester, in the 5th semester be internship
and semester 6 students will be their last assignment ( mini thesis).
The S1 program is a general program. This program takes time over 8 semester, longer
than diploma. S1 students learn more about theorytical than practice. In the last semester,
students will do the thesis. Before students do mini thesis, S1 students are required to perform
community service in some village to practice their knowledge in short time directly.

In S1 program, students will free to choose their work as based on what the student want.
In the last semester of S1program you will have the thesis or short research. In this program,
Students will get tittle S,Pd (Sarjana Pendidikan). Different with S1 program, In diploma
probably students probably have limitation to choose company that they want to aply. Because
some companies will consider from what program are the students graduated. In diploma
program, students will get tittle A.Md (Ahli Madya).
In conclusion, diploma program have more practice to make a professional worker, S1
program is general program that after graduated will be work based on their majors. These are
knowledge and theory are more pressed in S1 program. If the students want to improve their
skill, the students must choose diploma. However, if you want to take the general knowledge,
students could choose S1.
