Despite record numbers of juniors coming into the game over the last 4 years, club
cricket is facing a series of social, economic and environmental challenges.

Strategy
•Recruitment and retention of adult participants through various formats of the game including: Indoor Cricket, Last
Man Stands, links with FE/HE
•Significant investment into Chance 2 Shine Secondary School delivery for County Boards.
•Specific focus to develop the Women & Girls game
•Disability cricket focus with additional competitions
•South Asian Communities Project
•Overall aim to retain current numbers playing club cricket
•Linked to the four P’s...People, Places, Policy, Playing

4. ECB National Club Strategy outcomes
1. More and better facilities – indoor and outdoor
2. Encourage clubs who consider environmental issues when upgrading facilities
3. Encourage and support clubs to become more self sustainable
4. Improved security of tenure

• A challenging but rewarding future for cricket locally & nationally
• Increased funding to enhance current club facilities and new cricket opportunities.
• New opportunities to participate in several new formats of the game which includes: Indoor
8 aside, Yorkshire Cricket outdoor 8 aside.
• Government driven initiative to address drop off rates at 14+ - non optional!
• Cricket has a great range of products, programmes & opportunities to help clubs develop,
especially when compared to other sports

6. West Yorkshire Overview 2012-13
• Funding - £2.1 in facilities
• Coach Education – approximately 240 level 1 or level 2 coaches qualified – 50%
received a bursary from either ECB Coach Education or CSP
• Lords Taverners - £28k on NTPs & cages, over 200 equipment sets with an
estimated value of £8k
• Schools and club coaching Investment –
– 230 schools coached via C2S - £92k
– £8k Charitable Youth Trust (525 sessions, 175 schools)
– £31k Secondary School Initiative (30 schools)
– Sportivate - £12k
– SE SGS - £22k
– Also investment in FE/HE, Enjoy Cricket, BEM Centres
