Business Description: Botswana owned & operated UAS (drone)
Aerial Data and Integration Service Provider providing B2B aerial
imaging & photogrammetric data processing services saving targeted
clients’ time & money.
Business Background: Driven by a passion to “help people to help
themselves,” and an understanding that business is about people, I
chose to deliver a pioneering service leveraging unmanned aerial
systems (UAS –or drones) as they are the future happening now; A
tool for good, that is relevant, and continuously evolving in all
industries they interact with --most importantly, they leverage off of my
skills, passions, and experience.
Problem/Solution: 1. How to retrieve usable information, 2. To make
timely decisions, while 3. Driving down business operating costs and 4.
Getting a whole view of operations/site. Traditional survey methods
and manned aircraft can take weeks to complete or cost over 2-3 times
our service respectively, while also requiring specialized hardware,
software, and teams.
Products/Services: B2B UAS Aerial Data & Integration Service
Provider using “best in class, fit for purpose” drone technology,
licensed photogrammetric data analysis software & skills, and cloud
based visualization applications to deliver client specific 2D, 3D and
other photogrammetry reports & data sets (without the need for any
added investment) to inform mission critical/production related
decision-making for ongoing operations & projects saving time &
money.
Technologies/Special Know-how: “Best in class, fit for purpose:
Drones –Smart Little Things (Denmark), DJI (China), and Sensefly
ebee (Switzerland); Hardware –Specialized 3
rd
party sensors, gimbals,
and cameras; Software –Flight control, Telemetry, and Data
processing; Skills – UAS RPAS Operator Training (RSA); Data
processing (SLA agreement)
Robotics & Maintenance –Sourced in-country or RSA;
NB. Primary focus is technology localization & capacitation and
knowledge/skills transfer
Markets: Our niche market/service expertise is data acquisition > data processing > data extraction >
reporting. This repetitive, lean model allows us to deliver data sets & reports for key target market segments
(low hanging fruits) in the initial 24-36 months of operations that are driven by 2 things – 1. 80/20 rule and 2.
Those that lend themselves to building sustainable, repeated contract work –
1. Mining (74% of Y1 revenue –stockpile volumes, areas, distances, gradients, pit visuals): BCL Mine,
Debswana Diamond Mining Company, Morupule Colliery (Coal supplier to BPC), Lucara Diamonds, Botswana
Ash, and Botswana Chamber of Mines Citizen Empowerment Program (5% service fee charged on value of
contracts sourced through program);
2. Large Scale Arable Farming (26% of Y1 revenue –soil health/profiles, contours, water & pest stress):
Survey work on the 25,000ha Pandamatenga Farms to inform food security response to climate effects (client:
Botswana Agricultural Marketing Board; Pandamantenga farming region produces 75% of cereals & grains in
Botswana); AND
3. Survey/Construction/Infrastructure/Property Inspection (Focus of Y1-Y2 Revenue Diversification –
topographical surveys, project status visuals, 2D/3D models): Sub-contracting arrangement with NOA
Survey Consultants Pty Ltd –existing land survey partner (to leverage off of their PPADB & Land Surveying
Accreditation).
NB. Actively pursuing alternative funding options: 1. PO financing, 2. Local grant funding (eg. National
Environmental Fund – no ceiling) and International grant funding (Innovate UK Agritech Catalyst –
GBP400K) to offset risk of missing out on service revenue targets.
