5. Co-Teaching
• Co-teaching is a significant feature of YCIS education; it is so important and
instrumental to the delivery of our bilingual multicultural programme.
• Cohesive and authentic co-teaching starts from co-planning, where the
teaching partners (Chinese and western teacher) plan together. Co-
teachers share and discuss on a regular basis, so that they fully understand
the needs of the students and make the best decisions possible through
their curriculum planning.
• Co-teaching comes in different formats depending on the students’ tasks
and situation. For example, team teaching, one-on-one, group focus and
turn taking.

7. Primary Classes
• Three classes per Year level
• Known as Years 1A, 1B, 1C – classes are a balance of attainment,
gender and nationalities
• Two teachers per class, plus specialist teachers for some subjects
• Key Stage One – Years 1 & 2
• Key Stage Two – Years 3 to 6
