documentary entails
the story of Chelsea
Football Club’s road to
becoming the
champions of Europe.

3. Mode
The mode of this documentary is difficult to
categorise. There is no presenter or narrative figure,
the storyline is followed through interview so
therefore it is not reflexive. Neither is the
documentary participatory, poetic or expository.
The only mode this documentary could be
categorised as is observational because it follows a
story/journey. Observational or narrative would be
the best choice of mode for a sports documentary
because it they tend to tell a story or journey and
require a presenter for narrative purpose.
4. Interview
The documentary uses interviews as a narrative
for the journey to European glory. Interviews of
players, management and coaches describe post
game thoughts which lets the audience know
which game is about to be shown. The
interviews are all filmed on the same set and
reveal the people involved thoughts and feelings
to the audience.
5. Documentaries
Sky Sports is a very large and popular sports
entertainment channel under the BSkyB
broadcasting company. Their documentaries are
not often shown on the main channel, Sky
Sports 1, and are usually found on one of the
three other channels. Documentaries are always
about sport and mostly will look at a historic
moment or recent accomplishment.
