William Lewin was a late 1700's English artist. Lewin is best known for his work along with this three sons on "The Birds of Great Britain, with Their Eggs, Accurately Figured." William himself contributed 323 watercolor sketches of each of the 271 birds and 52 plates of eggs. He also worked on a second edition but died prior to completion. His sons completed the illustrations for him. most notably John William, who illustrated the earliest volumes of Australian history.
