2. When was the US Constitution
written?
The Constitution of the US was written in Philadelphia
between May 25th and September 17th, 1787 and was
then forwarded to Congress on September 17th.
3. Who created the Constitution?
The delegates of the Second Continental Congress.
However, James Madison was creator of much of the
constitution.
4. Why was it written?
The Constitution was written because the original Articles
of Confederation failed to turn the individual colonies
into a true nation. Under the Articles of Confederation
the states retained their own sovereignty, freedom and
independence from each other and from a federal
government. States were free to issue their own
money, fix their own tariffs, and maintain their own
army. There was no president or federal judiciary. The
US Constitution replaced the Articles of
Confederation, creating "a more perfect union."
5. What events led to its creation?
The revolutionary war
Wanting freedom from England
The need of forming a strong union
The need for uniting a nation under a form of power
6. Where was it written?
The Constitution was written in Philadelphia State House
between May and September of 1787
7. What was it modeled after?
The Magna Carta: First document forced onto a King of
England by a group of his subjects in an attempt to limit
his powers by law and protect their privileges.
The English Bill of Rights: An act stating the rights and
liberties of the people and a removal of the monarch.
Articles of Confederation: The states retained their own
sovereignty, freedom and independence from each
other and from a federal government. States were free
to issue their own money, fix their own tariffs, and
maintain their own army.
8. What problems in our society did
the Constitution solve?
United a nation
Provided a central form of government for the colonies
Protect citizens rights
Limited the power the government has
9. What are its limitations?
The government is split into 3 branches so power isn't
all in one place
The government cannot impede on its peoples rights
Enforces checks and balances between the 3 branches
of government
10. How would you improve the US
Constitution?
Overall the constitution does a great job at protecting
people and limiting power. If I had to change anything it
would be the way that the constitution is interpreted.
There would be one way that everyone would look at it
so one party cant interprete it in a way that will solely
benefit its party
11. Do you feel it is as relevant today as it was when
the Constitution was first created?
Absolutely. Our forefathers were genius to create an
important document that outlines our rights and
freedoms but in a way so that it could be changed if
needed in the new modern ways. It was incredible
written and still is as great today as it was over 200
years ago.
