Building Information Modeling is a design and documentation methodology based on coordinated, high quality information. It enables design and construction teams to create and manage information about a building project consistently and reliably across the scope of the project. The information is stored in a single building model. This ensures that information is coordinated, consistent, and complete.

Development Emails Content Analyzer: Intention Mining in Developer DiscussionsSebastiano Panichella
Written development communication (e.g. mailing lists, issue trackers) constitutes a precious source of information to build recommenders for software engineers, for example aimed at suggesting experts, or at redocumenting existing source code. In this paper we propose a novel, semi-supervised approach
named DECA (Development Emails Content Analyzer) that uses Natural Language Parsing to classify the content of development emails according to their purpose (e.g. feature request, opinion asking, problem discovery, solution proposal, information giving etc), identifying email elements that can be used for specific tasks.
A study based on data from Qt and Ubuntu, highlights a high precision (90%) and recall (70%) of DECA in classifying email content, outperforming traditional machine learning strategies. Moreover, we successfully used DECA for re-documenting sourcecode of Eclipse and Lucene, improving the recall, while keeping high precision, of a previous approach based on ad-hoc heuristics.
The Impact of Test Case Summaries on Bug Fixing Performance: An Empirical Inv...Sebastiano Panichella
Automated test generation tools have been widely investigated
with the goal of reducing the cost of testing activities.
However, generated tests have been shown not to help developers in detecting and finding more bugs even though
they reach higher structural coverage compared to manual
testing. The main reason is that generated tests are di-
cult to understand and maintain. Our paper proposes an
approach, coined TestDescriber, which automatically generates
test case summaries of the portion of code exercised by
each individual test, thereby improving understandability.
We argue that this approach can complement the current
techniques around automated unit test generation or search based techniques designed to generate a possibly minimal set
of test cases. In evaluating our approach we found that (1)
developers find twice as many bugs, and (2) test case summaries
significantly improve the comprehensibility of test
cases, which is considered particularly useful by developers.
Information Retrieval methods have been largely adopted to identify traceability links based on the textual similarity of software artifacts. However, noise due to word usage in software artifacts might negatively affect the recovery accuracy. We propose the use of smoothing filters to reduce the effect of noise in software artifacts and improve the performances of traceability recovery methods. An empirical evaluation performed on two repositories indicates that the usage of a smoothing filter is able to significantly improve the performances of Vector Space Model and Latent Semantic
Indexing. Such a result suggests that other than being used for traceability recovery the proposed filter can be used to improve performances of various other software engineering approaches based on textual analysis.
Google Play, Apple App Store and Windows Phone Store are well known distribution platforms where users can download mobile apps, rate them and write review comments about the apps they are using. Previous research studies demonstrated that these reviews contain important information to help developers improve their apps. However, analyzing reviews is challenging due to the large amount of reviews posted every day, the unstructured nature of reviews and its varying quality. In this demo we present
ARdoc, a tool which combines three techniques: (1) Natural Language Parsing,(2) Text Analysis and (3) Sentiment Analysis to automatically classify useful feedback contained in app reviews important for performing software maintenance and evolution tasks. Our quantitative and qualitative analysis (involving mobile professional developers) demonstrates that ARdoc correctly classifies feedback useful for maintenance perspectives in user reviews with high precision (ranging between84% and 89%), recall (ranging between 84% and 89%), and an F-Measure (ranging between 84% and 89%). While evaluating our tool developers of our study confirmed the use-fulness of ARdoc in extracting important maintenance tasks for their mobile applications.

THE SYNERGY BETWEEN TRADITIONAL “ULI” BODY PAINTING SYMBOLS AND DIGITAL ART.ikennaaghanya
For centuries, Africa has been home to a multitude of societies with different cultural landscapes, social structures, and strongly defined aesthetic ideals. In the absence of the written word, Africa’s legacy consists of a vast mélange of complex symbols, patterns, and signs. These aesthetically abstract configurations and unique characters replaced linguistic symbols commonly used for recording the history of remarkable events, the deeds of great kings, celebrations, births and deaths, and extraordinary occurrences. Mary Nooter Robert in Inscribing Identity: The Body, suggests “symbols that replaced letters or characters represent the sounds of a language, a logographic system in which a single character represents a word” (Robert 2007:57). Therefore, Africa has contributed to the world a rich tradition of typography; from ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs, to rock inscriptions found throughout the Sahara Desert, as well as rock paintings and drawings in the Tassili Plateau of the Atlas Mountains in the Fezzan). In fact, the rich diversity of esoteric symbols throughout Africa has inspired both craftsmen and artists for centuries. They have refashioned the antiquated and unique into contemporary forms, which now appear etched on pottery, cast on bronze and precious metals, carved on wood, woven into textiles, stitched on cloth, or inscribed on the human body.
Digital/Computer Paintings as a Modern- day Igbo Artists’ vehicle for creatin...ikennaaghanya
Revolutions come in many varieties. Some tear down established notions destructively, while others consist of forging new paradigms through constructive means such as an ideological or technological innovation that fundamentally alters an individual or group’s creative path. But all have their place in history. This paper charts a course of change in art and art styles, as been practiced by some modern-day Igbo artists. It follows the meandering path that has been influenced by technological advances that have in turn influenced art culture and practices in technique. In particular, this paper examines how the modern-day processes of digital art have attempted to broaden the modern-day Igbo artist’s knowledge base, and has influenced new ways of doing old things. Together these ideas have impacted modern-day art by creating a fertile landscape allowing an artist’s inquisitive tendency to take root and uniquely flourish. The aim of this paper is to analyze the various digital paintings produced by three modern-day Igbo artists (Ikenna Aghanya, Okechukwu Johnson and Chidi Onwuekwe) and in turn examine how the use of the computer, as an art tool has affected their creative process. The paper will also look at the functions of this medium as it pertains to each of the decorative paintings done by these artists.
thGAP - BAbyss in Moderno!! Transgenic Human Germline Alternatives ProjectMarc Dusseiller Dusjagr
thGAP - Transgenic Human Germline Alternatives Project, presents an evening of input lectures, discussions and a performative workshop on artistic interventions for future scenarios of human genetic and inheritable modifications.
To begin our lecturers, Marc Dusseiller aka "dusjagr" and Rodrigo Martin Iglesias, will give an overview of their transdisciplinary practices, including the history of hackteria, a global network for sharing knowledge to involve artists in hands-on and Do-It-With-Others (DIWO) working with the lifesciences, and reflections on future scenarios from the 8-bit computer games of the 80ies to current real-world endeavous of genetically modifiying the human species.
We will then follow up with discussions and hands-on experiments on working with embryos, ovums, gametes, genetic materials from code to slime, in a creative and playful workshop setup, where all paticipant can collaborate on artistic interventions into the germline of a post-human future.
Tackling Poverty in Nigeria, by growing Art-based SMEsikennaaghanya
With the rate of unemployment towering high in the country, lack of business and managerial skills or knowledge as well as fear of the unknown have crippled youths from venturing into private businesses that could have encouraged self-employment. This paper focuses on tackling unemployment through vocational/entrepreneurship education as the way to get out of joblessness. It is in the light of this that this paper examined the role and contributions of vocational/technical education to employment generation Awka town, Anambra State, Nigeria. It is obvious from the paper that youths found great value in skills acquisition believing that the fight against poverty cannot be won by just receiving money from rich people every day or every month, rather take from them wealth-job creating skills through vocational education for self-sustenance because anybody who wants to be rich and productive rather than being fed and dependent must start his/her own business. At the end, the paper recommended among others that training and re-training vocational/entrepreneurial skills for youths especially those that have dropped-out-of formal employment or education be facilitated to banish hunger and poverty in the society.
