Introduction to Microstrategy <ul><li>BI </li></ul><ul><li>Business intelligence is a term commonly associated with data warehousing . </li></ul><ul><li>Business intelligence usually refers to the information that is available for the enterprise to make decisions on Data. A data warehousing (or data mart ) system is the backend. </li></ul><ul><li>With Business Intelligence Tools, various data like customer related, product related, </li></ul><ul><li>sales related, time related, location related, employee related etc. are gathered and analysed based on which important strategies or rules are formed and goals to achieve their target are set. </li></ul><ul><li>Take a guess what's the most common business intelligence tool? </li></ul>

  7. 7. Introduction to Microstrategy <ul><li>OLAP tool </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Before we speak about OLAP tool selection criterion, we must first distinguish between the two types of OLAP tools, MOLAP (Multidimensional OLAP) and ROLAP (Relational OLAP). </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>MOLAP: In this type of OLAP, a cube is aggregated from the relational data source (data warehouse). When user generates a report request, the MOLAP tool can generate the create quickly because all data is already pre-aggregated within the cube. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>2. ROLAP: In this type of OLAP, instead of pre-aggregating everything into a cube, the ROLAP engine essentially acts as a smart SQL generator. The ROLAP tool typically comes with a 'Designer' piece, where the data warehouse administrator can specify the relationship between the relational tables, as well as how dimensions, attributes, and hierarchies map to the underlying database tables. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><ul><li>Popular Tools </li></ul></ul></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><ul><li>Cognos </li></ul></ul></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><ul><li>Microsoft Analysis Services </li></ul></ul></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><ul><li>MicroStrategy </li></ul></ul></ul></ul>
  8. 8. Introduction to Microstrategy MicroStrategy Intelligence Server is the industry's most advanced, secure and scalable business intelligence server. MicroStrategy is a business intelligence (BI), Enterprise Reporting, and OLAP (on-line analytical processing) software MicroStrategy's software allows reporting and analysis of data stored in a relational database, multidimensional database, or flat data file. MicroStrategy has also supported multidimensional MOLAP processing and ROLAP. Agile Modeling (AM) is a practice-based methodology for effective modeling and documentation of software-based systems.   Simply put, Agile Modeling (AM) is a collection of values , principles , and practices for modeling software that can be applied on a software development project in an effective and light-weight manner.  As you see in Figure 1 AM is meant to be tailored into other, full-fledged development methodologies such as XP or RUP , enabling you to develop a software process which truly meets your needs Agile Modeling (AM) is a practice-based methodology for effective modeling and documentation of software-based systems. Simply put, Agile Modeling (AM) is a collection of values , principles , and practices for modeling software that can be applied on a software development project in an effective and light-weight manner.  As you see in Figure 1 AM is meant to be tailored into other, full-fledged development methodologies such as XP or RUP , enabling you to develop a software process which truly meets your needs.
