2. INTRODUCTION
 It is a technology that helps you to transmit information without using
your vocal cords.
 Amazing solution for those who had lost their voice but wish to speak
over phone.
 This technology detects every lip movement and Internally converts the
electrical pulses into sounds signals and sends them neglecting all other
surrounding noise.
 Hence person on other end of phone receives the information in audio.
 Developed at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, Germany

3. WHAT IS THE NEED OF SILENT SOUND TECHNOLOGY
 In embarrassed situations such as:
 Whenever we are talking on a cell phone in a crowd,then
actually we are “not talking, because of lots of disturbance and
noise around us.
 In the case of an urgent call in a meeting, apologetically rushing
out of the room in order to answer or call the person back.

4. HOW WE SPEAK….?
 When we generally speak aloud, air passes through larynx(neck) &
the tongue. Words are produced using articulator muscle in the
mouth & jaw region.

5. METHODS
 Two Methods for using Silent Sound Technology
1.Electromyography
2.Image Processing
Electromyography (EMG):-
 Technique for evaluating and recording the electrical activity
produced by skeletal muscles.

6.  Performed using an instrument called an
“Electromyograph”, to produce a record called an
“Electromyogram”.
 Monitored signals are converted into electrical signals
that can then be turned into speech.

7. IMAGE PROCESSING
 Another way to obtain direct information on the
vocal tract configuration is via imaging techniques.
 The image will be send to reader lips reader and the
lips reader compare the earlier spoken words with the
present lips and tounge movement and the matched
image of lips and tounge will generate a visual
speech signal.

8. .Silent Sound Interface (SSI) using Image Processing
Process:
Electromyographic sensors attached to the face ,records
the electric signals produced by the facial muscles, compare
them with pre recorded signal pattern of spoken words

Silent/ laryngectomized speaker
Silent
Vocoder
Lip Reader

9. ADVANTAGES
 Helping people who have lost their voice due to
illness or accident.
 We can make silent calls even if we are standing in
crowded place.
 Very useful for sharing confidential information like
secret PIN number on phone at public place.
DISADVANTAGES:-
 It will be like always talking to robot.
 This technology will be very costly for a
common man

10. APPLICATIONS
 Silent Sound Techniques is applied in Military for communicating
secret/confidential matters to others.
 This technology can be best utilized by astronauts & dumb peoples.
Conclusion
 Silent Sound Technology, one of the recent trends in the field of information
technology implements “Talking Without Talking”.
 It will be one of the innovation and useful technology and in mere future this
technology will be use in our day to day life.
